Job Summary:

The Trade Operations Analyst is responsible for providing analytical support to traders and merchandisers. Includes some or all of the following: understanding of daily P&L, scheduling, maintaining positions and reports/valuations, booking and affirming trades; brokerage, preparation of standard and ad hoc reports for trading desk management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise support staff that may include individuals in roles:

  • Lead Trade Associate

  • Trade Associate

  • Trade/Accounting Assistant

  • Demonstrate ability to train support staff and provide direct coverage on processes related to:

  • FI System Activity (trade support, invoicing, and freight payables)

  • Oracle Cloud AP, AR, cash applications, and collections

  • Inventory reconciliations

  • Establish and maintain a positive and effective relationship with the business managers to create a strong business partnership.

  • Fully understand all aspects of invoicing and trade assistant functions and the corresponding systems.

  • Perform all trade assistant duties for specified markets or businesses.

  • Provide excellent customer service by fostering positive relationships and strong follow-up with customer issues, both internal and external.

  • Create and maintain a team environment for all supported businesses.

  • Provide various information, as needed, to the business managers, and corresponding management team, to effectively analyze the results of business operations.

  • Proactively investigate productivity opportunities and follow through to resolution, communicating successes to business managers, management and peers.

  • Work proactively to ensure all policies are followed.

  • Learn and effectively utilize all applicable operational systems.

  • Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments

Additional duties and Qualifications/Education/Experience/

Skills:
  • Experience in agricultural commodity industry, including knowledge of terms and standards required.

  • Basic understanding of financial trading required.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Must be able to work proficiently with Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel.

  • Business degree preferred or 5+ years of related experience.

Special Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time

  • Position requires operation of a computer and other standard office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator, computer printer and phone up to 90% of the time

Frequently communicates with employees in the office and at remote locations

This responsibility includes some or all of the following: tracking of barge positions and distribution of daily position report, review of contracts and charterparties, nominations to suppliers and buyers, tracking daily positions of vessels including loading and discharging schedules, payment to suppliers including wire transfers, collections from buyers via multiple payment methods or agreements, calculation and distribution of laytime, confirming vessel and contract related invoices, communications with multiple parties related to vessels, follow-up on all vessel related matters, and preparation of standard and ad hoc reports including U.S. export report, A/R and received wires report. Essential Job Functions: * Establish and maintain purchase and sale contracts * Establish and maintain vessel files * Communicate with Contract Principals, Vessel Lines, Surveyors, Vessel Agents, Banks and other entities involved with vessel shipments * Prepare, receive and review shipping documentation * Identify and resolve issues that are hindering the delivery process * Prepare payment requests for wire transfer * Generate various reports, including A/R, receipt of wires, barge tracking, and U.S. export report * Establish and maintain a positive and effective relationship with the business managers to create a strong business partnership. * Fully understand all aspects of invoicing * Provide excellent customer service by fostering positive relationships and strong follow-up with customer issues, both internal and external. * Create and maintain a team environment for all supported businesses. * Provide various information, as needed, to the business managers, and corresponding management team, to effectively analyze the results of operations. * Proactively investigate productivity opportunities and follow through to resolution, communicating successes to business managers, management and peers. * Work proactively to ensure all policies are followed. * Learn and effectively utilize all applicable operational systems.
