Global Documentary Services (GDS) is responsible for processing products and services offered by U.S. Bank to assist clients involved in international trade and commerce. This includes Import and Export Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections and Bankers Acceptances. The business line is also responsible for ensuring that processes and services are consistent with applicable regulations, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting in-line quality control testing related to operational processing, to ensure regulatory compliance and identify opportunities to enhance performance.

  • Performing periodic reviews to assess level of regulatory compliance and support audits, exams and reviews being conducted in GDS.

  • Act as a compliance resource for GDS operations with respect to answering questions and providing guidance and training.

  • Participate in, and ensure compliance in the design and development of policies, procedures, processes and training programs.

  • Collects and organizes data to track, monitor and report on the effectiveness of quality control testing.

  • Foster a culture of risk management through sharing of risk/compliance knowledge.

  • Work directly with GDS operations staff, coaching to the quality control testing results.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • One to two years of experience in an applicable risk management environment

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Basic Knowledge of government and regulatory laws and regulations

  • An understanding of economic sanctions screening requirements and related technology

  • Highly organized, detailed oriented and able to prioritize work

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to research and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • Basic presentation skills, comfortable in raising an opposing perspective

  • Skilled in interacting with various business partners and levels of management

  • Strong PC skills to include MS Office products

The Global Trade OFAC Screening Specialist will be responsible to assist with screening a portfolio of Corporate Clients and the parties and regions that they deal with for import, export and standby letters of credit as well as import and export documentary collections and Bankers Acceptances. Responsible for reviewing documents and inputting data into a data base while maintaining performance measures and quality improvements against establish OFAC sanctions guidelines. The role will serve as second reviewer for OFAC compliance, independently reviewing, entering and comparing information or entries and performing additional research for management review. Must remain objective and actively engaged in tracking and compiling; research, exception processing, data entry, record keeping, and/or data maintenance and avoid inherent conflicts of interest that may hinder an effective compliance program.
