Trade Finance Manager Opportunity Overview

As a Trade Finance Manager with Banner Bank you will Provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight to Trade Finance Consultant(s) and Trade Operations. This position will interface with all lines of business, outside vendors, clients and prospects in order to promote the banks international products internally & externally, manage the risk of the banks trade portfolio and assure compliance with all laws and regulations governing Trade.

As a Trade Finance Manager with Banner Bank you will have the opportunity to:

  • Be responsible for department budgeting and planning, oversight of technology initiatives and day to day management of the Trade Finance Department.

  • Develop and mentor Trade Finance Consultants and Trade Finance Specialist, providing training opportunities, coaching and counseling staff.

  • Ensure appropriate controls and certifications are reported in accordance with the banks compliance and audit requirements.

  • Make significant decisions to ensure the bank is not at risk or faced with potential loss.

  • Analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of Trade Finance Department operation(s) and makes procedural, personnel, product or services changes where appropriate.

  • Oversee and implement Trade Finance Department marketing/business development plan.

  • Ensure client service standards are adhered to and ensure maximum retention of existing clients.

The preferred location for this position is Downtown Seattle however the selected candidate may work anywhere in Banner Bank's footprint.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, International Studies, Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • 5 or more years of experience in Trade Finance management, operations or marketing.
  • 3 or more years of supervisory or leadership experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing trade products, including current revisions of Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits; Uniform Rules for Collections & International Standby Practices.

  • Understanding of standards and practices relating to accounting, auditing and regulatory requirements for trade finance products and foreign exchange transaction services.

  • Effective communication through oral and written mediums internally, externally with clients, prospects and colleagues in the industry and in public situations.

  • Ability to structure complex trade transactions and communicate suggestions effectively.

  • Knowledge of MS Office products with emphasis on MS Word and Excel.

  • Understanding of current global market trends, marketing and sales principles and practices and international payments.
