Job Title: Mobile Equipment Service Technician

Reports To: Manager, Product Performance & Warranty

Job Location: Store or Tractor Assembly Center

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt


The primary role of the Mobile Equipment Service Technician is to travel to customer or dealer locations, process work orders for customer repairs, as well as servicing/repairing their equipment. The range of equipment includes diesel-powered compact tractors from 24HP up to 78HP, as well as garden tractors, mowing equipment and other types of lawn and garden maintenance equipment. This position is also responsible for service parts ordering as well as filing warranty claims. This is a full time, hourly position that will require travel. Applicants must be able demonstrate the ability and knowledge required for this position, including having a minimum of three years of related professional experience. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required. The candidate shall also possess good customer communication skills.


  • Provide high-quality off-site repair services on all work orders

  • Ensure the safe use of equipment & tools

  • Responsible for completing all warranty paperwork in a timely manner

  • Daily accurate documentation of work performed

  • Daily travel to customer or dealer locations

  • Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle

  • Responsible for special order parts for all work orders

  • Responsible for completing service work in a safe and timely manner

  • Use of computer systems to identify parts and troubleshoot systems

  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints and drawings

  • Provide a safe environment by keeping work areas clean & organized

  • Possess strong communications skills as customer interaction will be frequent and will include equipment sales support, and customer education skills.

  • Prepare daily updates of work completed, problems identified, and future schedule

  • Loading and unloading of customer machines for repair and delivery

  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic servicing of customer machines

  • May be required to cross train and perform other duties

  • Ability to participate in the equipment sales process is highly desired

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, organize workloads, and meet deadlines


  • Expert mechanical abilities in small engine, diesel, and hydraulic systems, including professional experience servicing sub-compact and compact utility tractors at a tractor dealership

  • Ability to work independently without supervision.

  • Valid driver's license

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software

  • Good visual acuity and ability to communicate well with customers

  • Operate service truck/travel long distances

Provide routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, tires, brakes, any trailer repairs, including electrical diagnosis and repairs, including ABS system. 2. Conducts preventative maintenance in order to maintain D.O.T. regulations and safety. Replace air chambers, wheel bearings, wheel seals, dollies, doors, door seals, patches roofs and needed repairs to trailer body, aligns axles as needed; and minor damage repair including some welding on aluminum and steel. 3. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Works in a safe and efficient manner. Follows all company safety policies. 4. Maintains organization of shop; follows proper shop procedures, assists other shop staff members with maintenance as needed; and performs various ground and property maintenance as needed. 5. Participates in departmental training involving updated repair procedures, safety awareness and equipment changes. 6. Perform other duties as assigned. Necessary Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; One year of experience in the area of fleet maintenance or related field preferred; ability to read and write work orders, basic computer skills and possession of Roll Tool Chest and hand tools. Physical Qualifications: * Abilty to lift 70 lbs. and apply 20 lbs. of force to pull, push or lift constantly. * Exposures include: various noise levels, vibration of the extremities or whole body, and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, and gases. * Ability to perform crouching, stretching, high reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, and squatting while performing job duties. * Ability to stand, walk and meet the above requirements on various surface areas and conditions.
