Transports trailers within a distribution center. Moves trailers between shipping and receiving as necessary to load and unload merchandise. Applies seals to loaded trailers to prepare them to exit the facility. Records trailer movement and complete yard reports.

The Role:

Responsible for railroad track construction projects including the bid and proposal process, and crew oversight.

What you'd be doing:

  • Hands-on direction and implementation of track, rail yard work, and other projects as assigned

  • Determine materials needed and staff requirements for projects

  • Will utilize company operating procedures and FRA rules, standards, and instructions to complete project work and to maximize asset utilization and control costs

  • Oversee the work assigned to the Foreman and crew ensuring that it is completed in a safe and efficient manner

  • Able to operate and backhoe and end loader.

  • Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma (or equivalent)

  • Military experience helpful

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of track structure, construction and maintenance, and identifying track defects

  • Must be able to operate, and train others how to operate a backhoe and front end loader.

  • Must have a sharp eye for detail.

  • Superior communication skills; Must be comfortable engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.

  • Must have the ability to work well with others as part of a team.

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently under minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to operate control levers; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is may be required to sit for to sit for extended periods. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust

Environmental Conditions

  • Moderate to heavy physical effort involved. Lifts and carries necessary equipment to car to perform operation.

  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and equipment

  • Must follow prescribed safety rules to avoid possible injury.
