Provide group and individual peer recovery coaching for men housed at Adult Correctional Facilities. Provide appropriate referrals to these participants, as inmates and as they prepare for discharge.

Provide Narcan education and instruction, prior to release from the ACI.

Complete all required documentation including progress notes, recovery support plans, insurance information, progress and referrals.

Associates or Bachelors degree a plus. 3. Certificate or willingness to work towards becoming a State Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. 4. Two years of continuous recovery time. 5.

Must demonstrate an understanding in the recovery process and Recovery Oriented Systems of Care model. 6. Must be computer literate with experience in Excel. 7. Valid drivers license and insured auto. 8. Must be eligible for DOC (Dept. of Corrections) clearance.

VIEW JOBS 1/3/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-02T00:00 Summary: A Peer Navigator is the critical component of a peer-based HIV support model designed to provide support to people living with HIV/AIDS who are experiencing life difficulties. This position will be a Peer Navigator to work directly with our Immunology Center patients who participate in a smoking cessation interventional study. This position is unique in that there is also an outreach component which looks to the Peer Navigator to act as a liaison with clinic and research nurses and physicians to encourage smoking cessation. Prior experience with and knowledge of HIV is preferred but not required. The Peer Navigator will provide support and advice for clinic patients who decide to participate in a Brown University and Lifespan research study focused on helping clinic patients who may want to quit smoking. Therefore the Peer Navigator must have a history of smoking at least 5 cigarettes per day for longer than one year; have quit smoking and remained smoke-free for 1-2 years; and have an exhaled carbon monoxide (CO) level less than 5 at time of interview (which is evidence of being a nonsmoker). Responsibilities: PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Consistently applies the corporate values of respect honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system. Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Lifespan Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct. For the Brown/Lifespan research study the duties will include: ? Spending approximately 8 hours per week on study activities ? Maintaining phone contact (once weekly through week 12 of the study with each participant in the Peer Navigator study condition) ? Providing social support for quitting via weekly phone calls with the participant for 12 weeks ? Directing their participants to the most appropriate services/resources for smoking cessation ? Accepting phone calls (during clinic hours) initiated by their assigned participants during the first 12 weeks of the study ? Maintaining phone call/contact logs consistent with current PN practice ? Supporting participants who set a quit date including conducting a quit-day counseling call ? Encouraging participants not willing to set a quit date to engage in a discussion of �quitting as a process� and his/her barriers to quitting ? Acting as an intermediary between the patient and clinic or research staff facilitating the acquisition of any smoking cessation prescribed by the participant�s clinic medical provider ? Reviewing the formulary for medication coverage ensuring that the prescription/s is/are picked up at the pharmacy and reporting any side effects to the MD/nurse. Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Basic computer proficiency. Good telephone oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to demonstrate empathy. Ability to use good judgment regarding confidentiality issues. Ability to work independently and seek guidance or assistance when necessary. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
