Job Summary

Job Summary

This position can be located at the following District 2 locations: Bemidji, Crookston and Thief River Falls.

The position will coordinate the District 2 Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) Traffic Safety Program by establishing and maintaining relationships, encouraging participation and collaboration with the 4-E disciplines (engineering, enforcement, education and emergency, medical and trauma services) stakeholders, planning events and implementing and monitoring community health projects and education programs so that traffic crashes resulting in serious injury or fatalities are reduced within District 2. The incumbent of this position will also act as the administrative coordinator for the District 2 TZD Steering Committee in their role of developing structure, initiatives and monitoring progress.

Specific duties include the following:

  • Provide leadership and communication for the 4-E disciplines in District 2 so that specific TZD activities for each discipline promote goals, enhance safety and are carried out efficiently.

  • Coordinate activities of the District 2 TZD Steering Committee including monthly meetings so that regional goals are developed and progress toward those goals is made.

  • Coordinate annual District 2 TZD Workshop so that a regional workshop is held to focus efforts of regional stakeholders.

  • Utilize evidence-based driven approach to develop and implement best practices in traffic safety community health related 4-E education programs so that resources are used effectively and best practices address any gaps in coverage per community needs assessment.

  • Collect District 2 traffic safety data and trends so that data driven approaches can be shared with 4-E stakeholders and applied within District 2.

  • Represent the Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Safety and District 2 TZD Steering Committee in communicating the vision, mission and strategic goals of the TZD Program.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of professional experience, OR a Bachelor's degree plus two years of professional experience, OR an equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education and experience, that demonstrates knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:

  • Experience administering or managing programs which include multiple stakeholders having a variety of differing interests and needs.

  • Experience working directly with local, regional or state officials to promote awareness and to discuss and plan program operations.

  • Experience working independently with limited supervision to develop programs in coordination with a variety of participants and stakeholders.

  • Experience in project management, customer relations, preparing and making presentations, evaluating data and writing reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

Participation or involvement in traffic safety awareness management such as law enforcement waves, education campaigns, emergency services strategies or engineering projects.

  • Communication, planning, problem solving and time management skills.

Additional Requirements:

This position requires a Valid Class D Drivers License
