JOB DESCRIPTION:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this position is to package and ship all outgoing material and for the receipt of all incoming material. May act in a lead or training role and will perform under minimum supervision. Responsibilities captioned below are considered essential functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for moving both raw and finished goods between plant assignments by using either gas powered fork trucks or trucks to accommodate plant needs

  • Loading and unloading of trucks delivering steel to our plants

  • Maintain cycle counts, inventory accuracy and audits as needed; issuance of raw materials to first production operation; verify counting and tags are properly filled out

  • Perform routine maintenance for excessive wear and/or damage of operating equipment

  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not require any supervisory duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)

  • One year in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend plans

  • Proficient in the operation of gas powered material moving equipment and trucks

  • Valid driver's

  • Required to be certified to operate material moving equipment; also parts truck driver, will be required to have a CDL

  • Completion of forklift certification

  • Two years in an inspector role preferred

  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles

  • Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
