Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in tourism, public relations, business administration, hotel/restaurant management, marketing, journalism, or a related program and one year of experience in a tourist development setting such as a visitors and convention bureau or a destination management organization; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. A valid Florida Driver License is required and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets the requirements of Alachua County policy # 6-7; Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed prior to employment.

If in the past 24-month period, the record shows more than 3 moving traffic violations, and/or a conviction/pending charge for driving under the influence, the minimum qualifications are not met for the position. Successful completion of a criminal history background investigation is required prior to employment. Applicants within six months of meeting the minimum education/experience requirement may be considered for trainee status.

Position Summary

This is responsible administrative work coordinating a program in tourist development to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified county objectives.

An employee assigned to this classification coordinates tourist development program activities to bring new dollars to the county by generating leads for group travel, conferences, events and individual travel in the county while ensuring efficiency and compliance with state, county and Tourist Development Council (TDC) standards.

Work is performed under the direction of a higher level supervisorand is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS GENERAL

Upon declaration of a disaster and/or emergency, employees in this classification may be required to report to work.

Confers with staff to explain tourist development program and individual responsibilities for functions and phases of that program.

Prepares program reports for higher level supervisors.

Reviews reports and records of program activity to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified program objective.

Develops policies and procedures for the program's operation in conjunction with tourist development director.

Coordinates all activities dealing with federal, state and local agencies.

Ensures efficient and effective daily operations of the program.

Performs the duties listed, as well as those assigned, with professionalism and a sense of urgency.

CONTENTMARKETING(Includes General Essential Job Functions listed above)

Develops and/or assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of related computer programs.

Develops, manages, and maintains current informationfor the tourist development program local web page site known as Visitgainesville.com and social media channels.

Maintains local digital photo library for use in advertising and press opportunities.

Works with TV and motion picture site scouts utilizing an inventory of a vast variety of area sites.

Assists in developing and updating social media strategy.

Generates reports specifically from website analytics to determine success of advertising efforts.

Leverages social media to extend and support marketing and communication initiatives.

SALES (Includes General Essential Job Functions listed above)

Implements direct mail and telemarketing to tour operators, travel writers, travel agents and other sellers / promoters of travel.

Conducts sales blitzes with sales and marketing people from area hotel / attractions for travel agents and other sellers of travel in potential feeder cities.

Participates in travel / trade shows meeting with travel packagers.

Ability to develop and implement operating policies and procedures.

Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with the public, contractors local business owners and Constitutional Officers.

Ability to attain proficiency in the operation of computer hardware, software and related programs.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to prepare and organize written reports.

Ability to generate necessary paperwork in accordance with state and local ordinances.

Ability to plan and organize work and manage time.

This position assists with the administration and support of the Department of Surgery Education Programs, including the Surgical Residency Program and various divisions' fellowship programs. This position has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the general surgery training program, and will provide educational and technical support to the fellowship programs. Duties will include: Residency and Fellowship Programs, Education and Assessment * Maintain accurate and thorough academic records on all trainees, past and present. * In collaboration with the Program Directors and Assistant Director of Education, assist with the monitoring and documentation of resident progress toward meeting their program-specific milestones using New Innovations and other methods of evaluation and assessment. * Prepare and distribute all requisite materials for monitoring and reporting on resident progress and faculty teaching efforts. * In collaboration with the Program Directors and Assistant Director of Education, assist with the development of educational materials and classroom/laboratory needs to ensure effective educational sessions. * In collaboration with the Program Directors and Assistant Director of Education, construct and monitor effective methods of assessment of resident proficiency. * Construct and maintain methods for improving the educational value of departmental training programs. * Improve the use of information technology for educational purposes within the department, including educational webpages for training programs. * Update educational goals and learning objectives and track educational activities of departmental training programs. * Coordinate resident/fellow clinical rotation schedule and educational conferences, and track attendance. * Assist residents/fellows with their other training and educational needs, when appropriate. Technical Management of Programs, Including Recruitment * Ability to organize and prepare accurate documentation of program compliance with ACGME defined program requirements, provide assistance in preparing ACGME annual updates, and provide progress reports when necessary * Assist in the preparation of ACGME self-study and site visits. * Must be knowledgeable of rules and regulations on house staff leave, and maintain accurate records of resident leave. * Effectively use ERAS to successfully plan, organize, and implement recruitment activities for all sub-specialty training programs in the Department. * Work with the NRMP to ensure all Match lists are submitted in a timely fashion. * Maintain accurate resident and student records. * Research and complete of verification of training forms. Administrative * Customer service: respond to all inquiries via email or phone regarding the surgery residency programs. * Assist with the processing of appointments for new residents/fellows, as needed. * Share in responsibility of administering all in-training exams in the Department. * Assist with the supervision of the student assistant and/or Health Education intern. * Approve and proof correspondence for the Program Directors and the Assistant Director of Education. * Assist with the continuing medical education activities of the Department, including Surgery Morbidity and Mortality Conference and Surgery Grand Rounds. * Prepare travel and reimbursements for residency-related travel and surgery education expenses. Event Planning * Responsible for planning annual events for the Department, including but not limited to, the faculty and resident softball game, chief resident dinner, the educational retreat. Advertised Salary: $47,000 to $55,000 annually; commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
