Lead tours of the Nasher Museum of Art and its exhibitions. The main audiences areK-12 school groups, adult groups and public tours.
Act as a facilitator with tour groups rather than a lecturer. A facilitator is somebody who enables a process to happen, especially somebody who encourages people to find their ownsolutions to problems or tasks.
Use Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), open ended-questions and theinquiry methodfor all tours. (Training provided in these methods.)
Manage and keep control of a group of 15 students or adults withattention to safetyof visitors and artworks and implementation of museum rules.
Follow museum procedures and protocols.
Research artworks and artists outside of training at a levelappropriate to the agegroup.
Attend training sessionsas scheduled by the education staff.
Read exhibition catalogues, labels, and any other materialsdistributed by theeducation staff.
Personality traits: Cooperative, outgoing, engaging, enthusiastic,and flexible.
Prior experience with leading a group or teaching in a formal orinformal setting.
Some background in visual art and/or education.
Strong interest in contemporary art.
Abilityto learn quickly and synthesize information about artworks for various audiences.
Must be cooperative, outgoing, engaging, enthusiastic and flexible.
Currently enrolled in college or college graduate.
Must be able to stand for 90 minutes and help move materials and visitor stools.
Daily access to email is required as part of this position.
