The Total Rewards Manager directs the design, implementation, administration, communication, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs support the organization's business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Develops and manages compensation and benefits budgets. Oversees compensation processes, including survey participation, job evaluation, salary structure development, base pay administration, incentive plan design and analysis. Manages benefits planning and programs including health and welfare, retirement, and work life. May select and manage outsourced providers.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership in the design, development implementation and daily administration of benefit programs including health, retirement, wellness, and ancillary benefits.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on benefit strategy, keeping abreast of market trends, legislative changes, and policy This includes proposing innovative benefit programs and conducting thorough market research and analysis for senior leadership consideration.

  • Identifies and implements opportunities for plan improvements based on market analysis to ensure a competitive benefit package. Recommends and implements annual changes to plan design and plan costs. Conducts and participates in benefit surveys.

  • Partners with vendors to design, plan and manage the implementation of employee benefit programs. Manages vendor relationships and ensures adherence to contractual provisions, high level of customer service/ issue resolution and enhancements to contractual agreements.

  • Manages the annual and ongoing enrollment process which includes developing, planning, and implementing various communications and plan descriptions to provide human resources, management, and caregivers with information necessary to understand their benefit programs.

  • Responsible for communication, education, complex analysis, vendor negotiations and management, cost-driver analysis, cost-containment initiatives and recommends solutions to changes. Research plan design changes and makes recommendations.

  • Oversees the administration of employee benefits plans, including new hire orientation; document creation; compliance; enrolling and terminating with carriers; and reconciliation of invoices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Benefits Consultant, Procurement, IT, Legal) in the RFP process for selecting new carriers/vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with legal and cybersecurity standards.

  • Analyzes and implements changes to employee benefit plans to ensure compliance with federal and state scrutiny of proposed changes with actuaries, attorneys, and consultants.

  • Helps to drive employee understanding and appreciation of benefits programs through clear documentation, communication, open enrollment, and education.

  • Ensure management is fully informed of risks, issues, challenges and provide solutions.

  • Responsible for the overall audit of benefit plans for compliance with plan documents, policies, and government regulations (e.g. ERISA, ACA, FMLA, ADAAA, and other legislative requirements; coordinate the preparation of regulatory filings with federal and state agencies, including IRS, DOL, and other regulatory agencies).

  • Resolve employee issues and answers questions regarding group benefits.

  • Responsible for ensuring benefits administration system and technology enhancements are updated as needed in HRIS.

  • Partner globally to gain a holistic view of our benefits offering across the Company and help to create a global but local benefits strategy.

  • Be a visible presence. Available to members of the management team, hourly associates, guests, and airport partners.

  • Act as a trusted resource to Managers and Associates on a wide variety of human resource topics and guide associates to people, tools, and resources.

  • Assist in implementing the organization's performance management process through coaching, educating, and providing feedback.

  • Conduct regular audits of various processes to ensure efficiency and compliance (IE: employee files, training modules, etc.)

  • Prepare counseling and follow-up with the delivery of documentation.

  • Partner with the Regional Human Resource Manager on various human resource topics and duties.

  • When needed assist operations. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must exhibit leadership courage and the ability to coach up as well as coach direct reports.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in benefits, and compensation. Union experience preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of employee benefits and leave of absence policies, practices, and applicable laws.

  • Experience in managing self-insured healthcare plans.

  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, IRC, PPACA, FMLA (and other federal, state and local leave laws), ADA/FEHA, Workers Compensation, and other applicable federal and state regulations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication Must be able to present concepts and recommendations in a clear, concise format.

  • Solid presentation skills required.

  • Ability to persuade and influence diverse audiences and manage through adversity with tact and political acumen.

  • Must be analytical, methodical and detail orientated and comfortable dealing with complex situations; ability to problem solve and implement corrective action.

  • Ability to effectively develop and lead people.

  • Demonstrated experience with independently handling both day-to-day and complex benefit inquiries.

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information.

  • Effective conflict resolution skills.

  • An appreciation and respect for all individuals in the workplace along with modeling the Company's values of integrity, teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)-IFEBP is preferred.
