Reports to: Director of Special Education

Job Goal:
To provide and/or incorporate assessment of students' mental aptitude, emotional development, motor skills or educational progress.

Essential Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability needed for the position. Must hold or ability to obtain a valid TSPC Special Education or School Personnel License
Must hold or ability to obtain a valid TSPC Administrator License
Minimum three years of experience working in resource room and life skills classrooms.
Ability to demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for students
Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students
Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with student information
Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
Ability to work effectively in an environment which can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing
Perform physical requirements which may include: Moderate to extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina
Frequent standing, walking, bending and lifting
Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations
Possess near/far visual acuity/depth perception

Possible exposure to bodily fluids in assisting students with using rest rooms and in tending to injury and illness
Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
Assist the Director of Special Programs in the evaluation, coordination, and facilitation of special education programs.
Provide training and professional development to certified and classified special education staff.
Appropriately follow up on all referrals for assessment services.
Use a wide variety of assessment techniques to evaluate academic skills, learning aptitudes, personality and emotional development, adaptive behavior, and social skills of students.
Integrate assessment data into a concise, organized and educationally relevant evaluation report.
Maintain accurate, complete and confidential records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
Maintain compliance with state and federal rules for establishing special education eligibility and completing evaluations.
Work harmoniously with others and communicate effectively with students.
Operate computer and software programs as related to job responsibilities.
Follow district and school policies, procedures, rules, regulations, guidelines, and provisions of the contract, and exercise professional judgment when acting in the absence of a covering guideline or policy.
Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Special Education.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Master's Degree in Special Education or School Psychology or ability to obtain
Current or ability to obtain valid Oregon Special Education or School Psychologist License
Current or ability to obtain valid Oregon Administrator License
Possess a valid First Aid card if required
Possess a valid Oregon Driver's License if required
Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shot Series Training if required
SafeSchools Training as required
