Gigamon is seeking a skilled developer with 3+ years' experience in application and tools development with networking devices. Experience working in a Technical Support organization is strongly desired.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working with our Technical Support Engineers, Staff Engineers, and Professional services Engineers to design, build, deploy and maintain tools that assist us in providing world-class support to the Gigamon community. Flexibility, creative problem solving, desire to share knowledge, and the ability to interact with different levels of management and people with different personality styles is necessary. The Productivity Tools Developer must excel in innovative software design and have strong technical expertise to quickly understand the intricacies of the Gigamon product portfolio, SFDC platform, API calls, and construct complex data sets. The Developer must have a stellar record of enabling teams to work more effectively and developing tools with the highest ROI.
Design and implement tools that empower Gigamon Technical Support Engineers to be more productive and effective in supporting our customers.
Design and develop new network diagnostic tools to assist in the analysis of customer issues.
Review Feature Submissions for test scenarios requiring tools and automation.
Collaborate with Development Engineering to productize internal tools as customer facing applications on the Gigamon Support site.
Intimately understand the daily tasks and needs of Technical Support to aid in optimizing the efficiency of the tools.
Drive concept through execution of select design and usability initiatives through exploration and finishing of mockups, and prototypes of Support tools.
Conduct usability tests to solve problems with interfaces and improve usefulness.
Ensure on-time delivery of deliverables and milestones each release.
Provide technical solutions that are sustainable, supportable and transitioned to the infrastructure support team.
Evaluate third party applications for integration and implementation into existing business portfolio.
Knowledge/experience of high-tech service/support industry, specifically
BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of software development experience for a technical support audience.
Strong UNIX experience.
Solid software developer and debugging skills, with experience with Python, PHP,
C/C++ and/or Java.
Ideally have a solid understanding of networking, security and cloud products. Experience with Gigamon products is strongly preferred.
Thorough understanding of interactive design and user interface design principles.
