Peerless Pump, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join its Tool Room Team.

The Toolmaker will construct and repair tools and fixtures, machine parts, experimental and developmental parts, as well as special productions parts. This includes tool and drill grinding and welding and brazing tool bits. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility Mon-Fri - 1st shift.

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operate any machine tool needed in the construction or repair of tools, fixtures, machine parts, experimental and developmental parts, as well as special production parts.

  • Plan sequence of operations.

  • Make layouts, including compound angles, complex contours, establishment of coordination holes and reference points between several plans.

  • Prepare bills of material and sketches of items required to complete assignment.

  • Provide training and instruction to other employees as required.

  • Performs manual and electronic record keeping and information retrieval functions

  • Move material as required.

  • Perform operations such as, filing, deburring, fitting, and etc.

  • Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner.

  • All standard fabrication and welding.

  • Product repair welding.

  • All assigned duties.

  • Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • All hand and power tools required to perform maintenance work including electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, HVAC, machine installation, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic repair, machine tool disassembly, overhaul and assembly, and automotive type repairs.

  • Operate lift truck, man lift, two wheel trucks, and carts.

  • Operate company vehicle; car, truck.

  • Precision measuring instruments.

  • Gas, electric arc, heli-arc, wire feed welding equipment. Must have proof of current welding certification and/or able to be certified.

  • Welding and brazing equipment. Must have proof of current welding certification and/or able to be certified.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED/HSE or HiSET
  • 1-3 years manual machining (including but not limited to mills, drills and grinders) experience preferred.
