Position Summary:

The Tooling Engineer is responsible for the support and design development of plant tooling for all production lines and new products. Act as the project leader to ensure robust planning, racking and reporting of all critical tooling. Bring innovative ideas for new production lines as well as improvement to existing production lines to achieve best in class performance. Ensure that tooling projects are efficiently managed and meet or exceed all timing, quality and budgetary expectations. Documents all issues, performs root cause analysis and drives all open issues to resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for daily plant operations

  • Drive safety, quality, and productivity improvements

  • Create best practice standard work

  • Creation and maintenance of a capacity and utilization plan for tooling

  • Identify and evaluate new technology

  • Make production ready new technology

  • Ensure RISKS are identified and resolved or elevated to the correct level of leadership

  • Ensure on time completion, within budget and projected savings are achieved with no quality or safety incidents

  • Ensure stakeholder needs are managed and achieved

  • Designs, contract and implement new tooling and fixtures, develops and trouble shoots tooling issues

  • Compile and analyze statistical process control data

  • Design and purchase process gauging

  • Manage tooling supplier relationships

  • Compiles quotations for tooling and cost estimating for process changes

  • Justifying capital expenditures for tooling, fixtures and process improvements.

  • Investigates quality / manufacturing process concerns and aids in finding solutions

  • Complies with all safety policies and procedures.

  • Create, edit and modify tooling drawings

  • Support OEE

  • Support TPM

  • Support RIE

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in engineering preferred

  • Work experience in manufacturing tooling engineering and design

  • Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus

Proven experience of:

  • Operations Support

  • Tooling design

  • Drafting (Autocad preferred)

  • Process standardization

  • Quality improvement

  • Process improvement

  • Productivity Improvement

  • Business Case / CER preparation

  • RIE (Kaizen) Leadership / support

  • Project planning

  • A3 thinking and visual management

  • Compliance programs

  • Standard work development

  • Structured Problem solving

  • Risk assessment

Demonstrated:

  • Understanding of financial analysis (Equipment and tooling related)

  • Understanding of project management tools

  • Understanding of training and skills transfer skills

  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills (ability to train others at multiple levels within the organization)

  • Demonstrated influencing, relationship building, teamwork and collaboration skills

Job Summary: * The Process Quality Engineer is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and systems. The "PQE" has primary responsibility, partnering with the production leader, to ensure the performance of sheet metal fabrication processes Responsibilities: * Develop specifications of new equipment, and continuously monitor performance and specifications of existing equipment, utilized in the sheet metal fabrication processes of our facilities * Utilize problem solving techniques to lead projects in order to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, thru put, or inventory. * Leads and participates in ongoing improvements in safety, quality, OpEx and capacity through strong partnerships with Operations leadership, as well as by engaging all Operations employees. * Drive equipment uptime by engaging with Maintenance team. * Partner with Operations leadership on containment actions to achieve takt time attainment goals and restore flow while driving to root cause solutions for permanent corrective action with all available lean manufacturing tools. * Collaborate with EHS team to identify and implement processes, procedures, and equipment to enhance site environmental, health, and safety practices including workplace ergonomics. * NPI and Cost Reduction projects completed on time with all required documentation and actions regarding PFMEA, Safety, Quality and Productivity targets, following our BOS processes. * Analyze operational data such as cycle time, equipment downtime, scrap, process capability, product and people flow to design workspace layouts following Lean manufacturing principles. * Collaborates with Operations leadership, as well as production employees, to develop Standard Work and Job Breakdown Sheets. * All other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * B.S. degree in Engineering from an accredited college/ university. * Prior experience in delivering business results using Lean tools preferred. * Prior experience in an environment focused on continuous improvement, RIE's and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction preferred. * 9 Step Problem Solving experience with emphasis on root cause analysis. * Strong verbal and written communications skills required. * Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and team skills required. * Project Management experience is preferred. * Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite required.
