Tooling Engineer

Description:

• Provide budgetary quotes and timing for new injection molding tools. • Obtain quotes for new tooling, issue purchase orders and manage costs of new tooling. • Review 3D models of product design and drive design changes for improved product performance, decreased cycle times and increasing tooling life. • Perform tooling design review and interface with product engineers for design changes ensuring new tools conform to Pentair tooling standards. • Perform mold flow analysis. • Review hot runner and unscrewing mold designs. • Calculate press tonnage, cycle times and piece part pricing. • Monitor tooling builds to timeline, manage engineering changes. • Travel to overseas tooling shops as required for design review and final part run off. • Prioritize activities and perform program management activities. • Coordinates sampling, metrology requests and changes to tooling when it arrives on site. • Lead and attend meetings related to projects. • Be actively involved in safety, 5S, and housekeeping within the team. • Participate in lean processes in order to improve plant layout, process flow, and labor efficiency while implementing state of the art ergonomic and safety standards. • Participate in warranty and cost reduction efforts. • Liaison between design engineering and manufacturing on new products and product changes. • Participate in vendor certification. • Other duties as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree • 3-5 years experience in injection molding tooling, processes and project management. • Candidate must have experience in handling multiple projects and utilizing resources to drive bottom line results. • SolidWorks (or similar design software) experience required. • Must be able to understand GDT tolerances of plastic and steel parts. • Experience with managing injection molding tooling projects required. • Strong program management skills required. • Injection molding processing experience preferred. • Candidate must be able to effectively communicate with all areas of the business in both verbal and written format.
