Our Operations Teams are responsible for all aspects of manufacturing high quality products in a timely manner to delight our customers. Operations team members play an important role in Herman Miller's success and prepare us to help people do great things. All of our team members work in clean, bright environments that make use of Lean manufacturing principles. These teams share a passion for quality and hold safety as a number one priority.
As a Tool/Fixture Maker, you'll develop, construct, and alter a wide variety of fixtures, gauges, and automated machines. You will perform Tool Room operations involving extremely close tolerances. You'll also plan construction procedures and methods to complete assignments and select proper materials.

Compute dimensions and determine machining methods and material or parts required.
Continuously improve your skill set.
Use good judgment and balance cost, quality, and timing.
Effectively use design tools and E-drawings/Solidworks to complete machining and build tasks.
Fabricate components and assemble tools, machines, and fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, and models.
Operate and program CNC equipment.
Perform precision work to exacting tolerance and dimensions, using a variety of hand and precision tools.
Provide guidance and instruction to help develop team members in specific areas of expertise.
Review designs and use substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems.
Solve problems related to unusual materials and work holding arrangements, machine settings, fabrication methods, or production processes.
Support breakdowns, drop in jobs, and installations.
Work effectively under extremely tight deadlines.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...
A high school diploma or equivalent education.
A U.S. Department of Labor Journeyman's Card and completed an apprenticeship program.
Demonstrated technical aptitude.
The ability to obtain appropriate licensing for any special equipment required for the position, including hilo/personal cart.
The ability to work in a team environment.
Flexibility to change your work schedule to support breakdowns, drop-in jobs, and installations.
An understanding of continuous improvement Lean processes (preferred).
The ability to use the office automation, communication, software, and tools used in the Herman Miller operations environment.
The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
