Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects, tests, and adjusts new and reworked tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures for conformance to specifications such as dimension, tolerance, and hardness.

  • Inspects tools in accordance with specifications with locating points, coordinated dimensions, and tooling holes that are at right angles, compound angles, or parallels. Tests units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning.

  • Verifies accuracy of measuring instruments such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, height gauges, optical equipment, and electrical and functional gauges using master gauges.

  • May use optical instruments to examine measuring instruments for wear, damage, and defects, and makes adjustments to inaccurate instruments.

  • Maintains records of defective parts and types. Determines salvage ability of items.

  • Perform visual, in-process and final dimensional inspections on tightly tolerance piece parts, subassemblies and final assemblies in the Receiving Quality Control area.

  • Performs required inspections in accordance with procedures and planning documentation.

  • Performs required inspections using standard measurement instruments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or Quality experience, Quality Inspection or Quality Tooling.

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

  • Technical strengths in processing, operations, and inspection.

  • Interpret drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of GD&T and ANSI Y14.5.

  • Perform certification review on supplier documentation and issue Authorization to Ship (ATS).

  • Ability to record detail information accurately, timely and follow instructions.

  • Ability to read simple and complex tool designs / drawings.

  • Ability to work any shift, overtime, or non-standard work schedule.

  • Possess excellent communication skills and effective interface with Mission Assurance department members, suppliers, customers, all other departments within the organization and both technical and non-technical personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess the ability to plan and organize work in order to accomplish assigned tasks.

  • Candidate should have the ability to work multiple programs while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Be strategic in the identification of technical needs and solutions coupled with a strong program execution focus.

    • Experience with Continuous Improvement/PES techniques.
  • Must have good computer skills - MS Office, Costpoint, QMIS, ePic, TCUA.

  • Self Starter and ability to work through an issue to closure

  • Must be able to operate a forklift and crane.

    • Experience and familiarity with laser tracker systems.
  • Experience with ISO 9000/AS9100 Quality Management Systems.

Salary Range: $59,300.00 - $98,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
