POSITION SUMMARY

Provide the necessary leadership to the Die Repair colleagues to achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Company's mission, vision and values in performance of daily activities.

  • Responsible for performance feedback and leadership of all direct reports including mentoring, coaching, counseling and corrective action when situations dictate.

  • Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.

  • Provide direction and leadership to shift colleagues consistent with plant business plan goals.

  • Coordinate and assist in new colleague orientation.

  • Coordinate line activities with the production supervisor and work team.

  • Provide leadership and promote positive morale and assure a total team concept.

  • Communicate and prioritize daily work assignments to the team.

  • Enter work orders into the MLS system

  • Assure work orders are completed in an efficient and timely manner

  • Develop and manage die PM schedules for long term and mini PM's

  • Supports die change operation and assist in new job set-up.

  • Communicate line issues to supervisors on other shifts.

  • Communicate the overtime schedule to the work team.

  • Responsible for overall department coordination and communication.

  • Effectively communicate die issues to the other Tool/Die supervisors.

  • Provide input into the individual work team performance.

  • Assist with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.

  • Provide the proactive leadership necessary to achieve and maintain a continuous improvement mindset for the work team.

  • Work with the work team to assure timely and efficient repair of dies in order to achieve maximum throughput.

  • Champion assigned engineering changes communicate and coordinate accordingly to all departments.

  • Support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and Quality registration (ex. TS 16949, ISO 14001, etc.)

  • Participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8D reports, department meetings, etc.).

  • Prepare all accident reports to include identification of root cause and corrective action.

  • Responsible for following all OSHA required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.

  • Responsible for assuring that the entire team has the necessary tools and materials to properly perform their job safely and efficiently.

  • Assign clear responsibilities for environmental, health and safety (EH&S) and hold all direct reports accountable for enforcement.

  • Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized and verify individual usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) by the work team.

  • Maintain high standard of housekeeping in the work area.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.

  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (ex. Quality Policy Manual, Colleague Handbook, Level II Procedures etc.)

RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS

Reports directly to the Engineering Manager. Interfaces on a frequent basis with Operations, Materials, Maintenance and Quality. Interfaces on an as needed basis with HR, IT, Purchasing, Accounting and corporate Engineering.

LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides direct leadership and supervises hourly colleagues.

  • Ability to identify, select, train and coach maintenance/production talent.

  • Provides model behavior to demonstrate corporate values.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Applied Science in Manufacturing, Engineering or Industrial Technology Masters degree preferred.

  • Minimum of six (6) years experience working with class "A, B & C" dies, and one (1) year of management experience.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast pace environment.

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

  • Proven work record.

  • Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Root cause / problem solving ability.

  • Ability to follow written instructions.

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Ability to read die design prints and drawings

  • Computer literacy and good knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

  • Knowledge of stamping processes and procedures.

  • Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Duties include but are not limited to: stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear. Ability to travel. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration and hazardous materials.
