Under general supervision of the Tobacco Cessation Manager and Director of Cardiovascular services, this position involves planning, conducting, and evaluating a broad range of education programs for smoking cessation. The Tobacco Cessation Specialist will also use research-based and best practices information to develop health educational material and edit tobacco cessation curriculum as needed.
This position is also responsible for providing telephone hotline support, individual and group counseling support, and guidance to adult and youth audiences for tobacco cessation. The Tobacco Cessation Specialist is responsible for transportation needed in the coordination of smoking cessation outreach and education, as well as fulfill management of documentation in compliance with the County of Orange Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program.
The position requires bilingual competence in either Vietnamese and English OR Spanish and English. Tobacco Cessation Specialist must be able to speak, read, and write to demonstrate bilingual competence.
Bilingual REQUIRED - [Vietnamese and English] OR [Spanish and English] (read, write, speak)Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or related field preferred
1 year clinical health care or health education experience preferred
Effective oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates ability to provide individual and large group counseling sessions for all audiences
Competent in public speaking
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
