PRIMARY FUNCTION: In support of Academic Success programs, for Club members, tutors wills be responsible for implementing small group tutoring (1:3 staff/member ratio for elementary members & 1:4 staff/member ratio for middle school members) in ELA and/or Math.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Work with local school districts to serve at risk members who have not had or have limited opportunities to receive additional academic support services
Lead high-dosage, low-ratio tutoring 2-5 days per week / 4-10 hours per week during the school year
Use ongoing informational assessments to target instruction through the states and local school districts ELA and math platforms
Ability to plan and provide supplemental academic instruction to members in a fun and creative manner, with an emphasis on helping close learning gaps
Assist members in developing and strengthening study skills and organization techniques to promote academic success
Works with local schools and teachers to align tutoring to support learning efforts that take place in the regular school day
Maintains member folders to include tutoring plans, attendance, and grant reporting metrics, for the purposes of sharing info with Club leadership, parents, and teachers
Serves as a mentor and academic coach for members to encourage a love of learning and build confidence
Follows all standard BGCTNV policies and rules as it pertains to working in direct service to members.
Participate in trainings and professional development opportunities tailored towards academic success and tutoring best practices
May be required to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Experience working with youth is a plus
Knowledge of youth development and ability to build positive relationships with members
Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
Ability to plan and implement quality tutoring for members
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Problem solving skills
Have a flexible attitude and disposition.
Accept, implement and grow from feedback
Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the Club environment
REQUIREMENTS
Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma
Background in Education or youth programming, and strong love of literacy and/or math is a preferred
Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate online systems and email.
Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated, and professional.
Ability to work with diverse personalities.
Ability to adapt to a sometimes challenging, high-pressure environment.
Strong personal standards of excellence, ethics, and integrity.
Must be able to remain alert and energetic for 4+ hours or more daily
