Currently, Meijer is looking for a Team Lead, Stores Asset Protection. Collaborates with the Market Asset Protection Manager and Store Leadership to support a culture of shrink prevention through operational excellence, theft controls and people development, along with a culture of safety with 200% accountability. Oversees and ensures the effectiveness of Asset Protection shrink prevention initiatives, company directives and safety efforts to maintain an open environment of integrity and excellence.

Key Deliverables:

  • Manages leadership of the Asset Protection team including hiring, performance reviews, providing timely feedback, scheduling within budget standards and overal performance as it aligns to company programs and initiatives.

  • Manages and participates in investigations of internal/external losses and criminal acts and ensures store wide execution of deterrence methods, including merchandise protection, by teaching, training and providing consistent follow up to store leadership.

  • Serves as a permanent member of the store's Safety Committee Team and promotes the 200% safety accountability expectation.

  • Conducts safety auditing to identify any unsafe conditions and behavior, then determine and implement strategies to remedy any concerns.

  • Ensures physical security of assigned unit, e.g. AP technology, fire protection system and associated alarms are operational, key control is properly maintained, doors are locked when designated by policy and staff is appropriately trained.

  • Develops and implements strategies related to store's shrink plans and ensures that Asset Protection goals are accomplished.

  • Maintains professional company standards within the Asset Protection office as it serves for a point of contact with outside/third party authorities.

  • Reviews financial reports and area specific processes to determine root cause analysis of issues identified and partners with store leadership to assist with resolutions.

  • Conducts pre and post inventory assessments and analysis.

  • Attend, participate and present at store meetings, new team member orientation and department specific meetings with Asset Protection related topics.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

  • 1-2 years of retail experience

  • 1-2 years of investigative experience preferred.

  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

  • Ability to think strategically and make discretionary recommendations and decisions.

  • Ability to proficiently delegate tasks to ensure completion at multiple units

  • Ability to prioritize time to achieve the greatest positive impact to the organization.

  • Utilizes effective leadership skills to remotely lead asset protection teams even while not on the premises.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to analyze financial reporting tools including Shrink, P/L Statements, Risk Assessments and Exception Reports.

  • Strong investigative skills/techniques.

  • Skilled in interviewing and interrogations tactics (Wicklander preferred).

  • Understanding of the criminal and civil justice system (e.g. local, state, federal, and regulatory, etc.).

  • Understanding of Organized Retail Crime.

  • Understanding of retail operations (e.g. cash office, receiving, Pharmacy operations) and product protection strategies.

Plans, directs and supervises team members in the day to day operations of the Softlines department. Implements strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability. Ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved and service is quick and efficient. Maintains store appearance with a focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards. Provides support to team members during peak periods or when scheduling conflicts arise. Key Deliverables: * Responsible for staffing selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs * Promotes succession planning by providing career paths, identifying development needs for the Team Members, and being involved with and accountable for promotion decisions * Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge * Supervise the execution of the Merchandising plan within the Softlines area * Is responsible for P&L, achieving sales, labor and shrink plans for the department * Implements Corporate processes to achieve goals including shrink, margin, profit, sales, labor * Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service * Mentors and coaches Softlines Team Members to ensure production levels are to Meijer standards * Assists in training the General Merchandise Team Leaders and Team Members in correct Softlines Merchandising standards * Ensures the Softlines team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and have completed all required training * Reviews Customer Survey and customer feedback from previous week or day * Schedules and supervises the Softlines Team to: * Maintain department conditions and operations * Set floor to floor plans, planograms and templates * Complete daily price changes and weekly ad sets * Execute inventory preparation of the sales floor and backroom * Set and stock all Softlines specific area planograms * Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations * Analyzes production results from the previous days stocking and discussing with Team Members * Reviews sales goals, supply costs, stock loss/shrink results and goals * Promotes a safe work environment * Reliable and consistent attendance is required * Other daily tasks as required Qualifications: * Requires high school diploma or its equivalent * 3 – 5 years of related retail experience * One year of management experience * Successful completion of all required curriculums * Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction * Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks * Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions * Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling * Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times * Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders. * Successful completion of all required certifications Meijer, Inc.
