Connect Community Charter School is a small, independent Charter with a focus on Social Emotional Learning and Project Based Learning. We pride ourselves on our positive school climate and focus on relationships as the basis of all our work. We are looking for a Spanish/English bilingual School Counselor who can work 50% of the time as school counselor and 50% to support the principal in an administrative capacity. As School Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. Because we are a small independent charter, all staff are called to take on additional duties at times, so you should be flexible and willing to take the initiative to contribute when you notice a need. Counselor Duties:
Provide individual and group counseling to students on various topics such as academic performance, career planning, personal issues, and social skills development.
Collaborate with the school based therapist, teachers, and parents
Offer crisis intervention services when necessary.
Promote cultural diversity and inclusivity within the school community.
In collaboration with the 8th grade teacher and the high school district, facilitate the high school enrollment process
Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress.
Attend staff meetings and staff development trainings to stay up to date with school goals and initiatives
Be a presence during recesses, mingling with students and staff
Attend IEP and other meetings to support students as appropriate Administrative Duties:
Plan and lead monthly Community Meetings (in the evening)
Plan and lead the DELAC committee
Help resolve conflicts that arise between parents and the school
Lead weekly attendance meetings to promote strong daily attendance
Supervise the paraprofessional staff
