Title One Paraprofessional

School Community:

Housatonic Valley Regional High School is a small, 9-12 high school in rural Northwest Connecticut, part of the Region One School District.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in literacy instruction at the high school level and an understanding of language development and acquisition. They will work closely with our Title One teacher and high school staff to ensure student success through a data-driven decision-making process.

Duties:

• Work with small groups or individual students, depending on the student's SRBI/MTSS placement (Tier 2 requires small group instruction, Tier 3 requires one-on-one instruction).

• Collect data on student performance on identified standards and report back to the Title One teacher and/or the StAT regularly.

• Meet with the Title One teacher to discuss student progress and to discuss additional instructional strategies that might be helpful.

• Display a positive mindset about all students' ability to learn languages successfully. This can be accomplished by (a) developing a good relationship with the student and (b) referencing the Habits of Mind.

Work Day/Year:

35 hours per week for 180 school days. Hours will vary to allow the tutor to be available after school to meet with students. An additional 10 hours per year will be available for professional learning activities.

Salary/Benefits:

• $22.37 per hour

• Health and dental insurance per AFSCME Local 1303-266 CBA

• Paid time off
