A Maintenance Technician IV's Day is filled with a variety of tasks aimed at keeping a manufacturing facility running smoothly. They start their day by checking the condition of the equipment used in production. This involves maintenance, calibration, and sometimes repairing or replacing parts. They work with a range of systems, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic ones.
Their expertise isn't limited to one area; they might have experience in electrical or mechanical fields, or even both. They're familiar with building automation systems and monitoring systems and having experience with programmable logic is a bonus. They work with various utilities like clean dry air, nitrogen, chilled water, and more.
The Maintenance Tech IV's goal is to ensure everything is energy-efficient and safe, and to keep downtime to a minimum. They do this by anticipating necessary repairs and keeping accurate records. They're problem solvers, tackling anything from simple to moderately complex issues, and they use their experience to improve the performance of equipment and systems.
They report to the Senior Facilities Engineer and represent the services and operations of systems during audits and inspections. Their responsibilities include executing maintenance activities, ordering parts, installing new equipment, and managing spare parts inventory. They also troubleshoot utilities, maintain diagnostic tools, and oversee preventative maintenance of power systems.
In addition to these tasks, they assist other team members, perform facility maintenance, document readings on equipment logs, and understand and utilize technical systems documentation. They also support documentation with appropriate data, assist with technical investigations, and ensure compliance with regulations and standards. Lastly, they oversee work performed by outside contractors, always prioritizing quality.
In short, a Maintenance Tech IV's Day is busy and varied, but their work is crucial to the smooth operation of the facility. They're a key player in the manufacturing process, using their skills and knowledge to keep everything running as it should.
