Title IX and Section 504 Coordinator
SUMMARY:
Provides university-wide leadership coordinating the university's compliance with Title IX, ADAA, and Section 504. Develops and implements appropriate policies, procedures, and educational programs regarding sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and disability discrimination prevention, ensuring faculty, staff, and students understand their rights and responsibilities. Oversees and coordinates investigations, responses and resolutions to complaints, and the selection, training, and supervision of investigators, and related roles.
JOB FUNCTIONS
University Title IX, ADAA, and Section 504 Program Leadership
Develops and implements appropriate policies and procedures regarding sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and disability discrimination complaint processes.
Identifies systemic problems relating to complaints and determines whether campus-wide resources should be adopted in response, including review and revision of relevant university policies, and increased education and prevention efforts.
Collaborates with leadership and campus constituencies to disseminate information, redesign processes, and support the university's investigative processes.
Collaborates and coordinates with compliance partners across the university to support the university's overlapping compliance needs and responsibilities.
Communicates with local law enforcement and government agencies to ensure reports are handled appropriately and promptly; coordinates with local victim advocacy organizations and resource providers.
Serves on various university planning and policy committees; recommends and participates in the development of university policies and procedures.
Serves as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
Investigations:
Oversees, coordinates, and ensures investigations of reports and complaints of sex discrimination, sexual misconduct, and disability discrimination are adequate, reliable, timely, confidential, and impartial.
Reviews all proposed sanctions before they are imposed to ensure that they are reasonably calculated to effectively address the underlying cause and prevent its recurrence.
Training:
Develops, implements, coordinates, and conducts educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support faculty, staff, and students regarding their rights and obligations under Title IX, ADAA, and Section 504 including reporting options and responsibilities, support services, university policy, grievance procedures, and confidential resources.
Selects, trains, and oversees designated Deputy Title IX Coordinators across critical areas of the university.
Ensures investigators, adjudicators, and any others involved with processing Title IX, ADAA, and Section 504 complaints are properly and adequately trained.
ADAA-Specific Leadership
Partners closely with staff, faculty, and supervisors related to the implementation and understanding of disability accommodations.
Reviews disability documentation for employees and determines reasonable and appropriate accommodations to be provided.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Baccalaureate degree required.
5+ years of related experience. Experience managing compliance functions preferred. Prior experience in higher education is a plus.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with a wide spectrum of people including employees, students, and third parties. Interpersonal skills must allow this individual to function professionally and wisely during difficult conversations, while under stress, and while managing challenging situations.
Ability to provide effective and appropriate counsel and expertise to all levels within the university.
Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to develop and present educational programs and workshops.
Experience in examining and updating operations and procedures and formulating policy.
Familiarity with compliance structure and programs.
Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able to maintain the necessary confidentiality and discretion required in this role.
May be required work non-routine hours during certain times of the year.
