The Tissue Recovery Coordinator (TRC) is an integral contributor to the success of the Tissue Work System (TWS) and Legacy of Hope's mission. The TRC performs tissue and research recovery complying with Legacy of Hope's (LoH) policies and procedures. The TRC serves in a Recovery Team Leader capacity as designated on the monthly on-call schedule. The TRC's expected total number of call days will be between 11-15 days of call per month.

Additional non-surgical responsibilities include:

  1. Responding to quality assurance requests for additional information to complete recovery charts, even in cases where not direct participation occurred.

  2. Collaborating with TWS management to ensure recovery supplies are on-hand and available.

  3. Maintaining current relationships and developing new relationships with referring institutions, Medical Examiners (ME)/Coroners, and Funeral Homes in collaboration with other members of Legacy of Hope.

  4. Participation in meetings, LoH activities and events.

  5. Performs other duties as assigned by TWS leadership.

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
:

Required: High School Diploma with minimum one year's experience related to mortuary sciences, anatomy and physiology, surgical technician, or other applicable medical/surgical knowledge. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of aseptic technique, human anatomy and physiology, and/or surgical instrumentation use and maintenance.

Preferred: Associate's degree or higher. Two years of experience within health care or mortuary science focus. Knowledge of tissue banking.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AN
D/OR REGISTRATION:

Required: Reliable transportation and valid Alabama driver's license and ability to be insured.

Preferred: Certification in a medical or health related field.
