Tire Uniformity Methods Engineer (Pipeline)

US0 Central Passenger Industrial Direction Headquarters: Come join our exciting team prototype leaders, process experts, industrializers, and strategy leaders at our central industry headquarters, located at the Donaldson Center campus in Greenville, South Carolina. Our diverse team is responsible for the vision and introduction of new process and product technologies in our North American passenger car / light truck tire factories. We also provide support and expertise for current technologies. These technologies range from extrusion to tire-building to tire vulcanization, to measurements/profilometry and associated data systems. We work with product developers and machine developers to choose the right solutions for our factories and our future in our Manufacturing Facilities throughout the U.S., Mexico, South America, and Canada.

MISSION :

This is a two-step mission. The first part is to learn the details of the processes and the related tire uniformity competencies, specifically learning in the factory environment. Once completed, the candidate will join the central team to support other factories and teams and to work on long-term strategic solutions for tire uniformity.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Define and develop tools for tire uniformity (noise, vibration and handling) optimization

  • Analyze available tire data and write code when needed to automate analysis of data related to tire uniformity

  • Define and assist in the implementation of process uniformity improvement projects

  • Support factories to find the root cause of non-uniformity and then optimize the process for good quality tire uniformity

  • Anticipate future risks related to tire uniformity arising from product evolutions and constituent evolutions

  • Support new product technology industrialization to ensure long term good quality tire uniformity

  • Run advanced studies to find previously unknown causes of variation

  • Analyze data between factories for benchmarks and best practices

  • Teach others the principles of tire uniformity mastery

  • Use data collection from industrial machines, their measurement equipment and associated systems to advance the understanding of tire uniformity

REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will possess a mathematics foundation, including statistics, differentiation and integration. Some coding skill and ability to develop and perform design of experiments (DOE) are required as well.

A degree in mathematics, engineering or statistics is preferred.
