Position Summary

Consumer/Commercial tire technologies is in need of a highly motivated engineer to conceive, verify and implement new technology to establish and maintain world-class tire performance in all tire segments. This involves advanced tire design through simulation, new experimental techniques and collaboration with groups internally and externally

Responsibilities

Execute technology validation through simulation and experimental validation

Collaborate internally and externally to implement new technologies to manufacturing facilities

Run numerical/finite element simulations to understand and mitigate risk to products from new technology

Coordinate tire builds, analyze testing data, draw conclusions and make plans to ensure product/technology timelines are met and aligned plans are executed

Communicate status to technical and business partners

Qualifications

BS in Engineering or other technical discipline plus 2 years of relevant work experience.

Solid modeling experience, project management skills desired. Extensive finite element analysis experience desired. MS preferred

About the Position The Commercial Tire team in the Product Development Americas department at Goodyear is responsible for developing and industrializing new products, processes, and technologies for a wide range of commercial vehicles and applications for the North American and Latin American markets. This Senior Tire Engineer role will be responsible for (A) the development, maintenance, and user support of tire engineering design tools, (B) the coordination, documentation, and maintenance of tire engineering knowledge manuals, and (C) participating in applied product and fundamental technology tire engineering projects. Primary Responsibilities * Evaluate existing or develop new products/processes utilizing advanced data interpretation methods (which meet internal and external customer requirements). * Lead implementation of new technology within current department. * Translate product needs to experimental data or design parameters. * Work with teams and product groups to bring technology to market * Drive in the development of new concepts.  Required Education and Experience * 6+ years' experience in the tire industry, with working knowledge of design and manufacturing principles, and expertise in: * Creating complex 3D models and drawings for tire design and manufacturing support. * Developing product engineering software applications, specializing in Catia V5 tools. * Geometry automation using KnowledgeWare and VB scripting. * Specifying and developing template-based 3D geometry models and engineering drawings using Catia V5 Skills and Abilities * Being able to work in a team environment and individually in a project matrix organization with a collaborative mindset. * Experience in CAD modeling of complex geometries and ability to incorporate and realize innovative design ideas in CAD. * Proven ability to define, plan, execute and lead projects, and work on multiple projects. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a sense of responsibility and experience in coaching and training others. * Demonstrated initiative and proactive approach and experience in identifying and solving engineering problems.
