Shape the future of timber marketing with Rayonier! As the Timber Marketing Manager in our Greater GA Resource Unit, drive financial success by forging strategic partnerships that optimize revenue through a delivered and stumpage sales system. Strategic insights will help build customer relationships, deepen our understanding of the value chain, and inform the market intelligence that fuels our success. Take ownership of our timber revenue strategy - from budgeting and forecasting to harvest scheduling, sale design, and marketing execution. Success in this role will pave the way for exciting new challenges and opportunities within the company.

How will you succeed:

  • Embrace Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues in the timber marketing team to prepare, negotiate, and market timber sales effectively. Open communication and teamwork are essential for achieving shared goals.

  • Coordinate Harvest Activities: Collaborate with the Resource Information Manager and Land Information Services to coordinate the tactical harvest schedule, ensuring efficient management of resources and adherence to group design principles.

  • Strategic Marketing Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive timber marketing plan, incorporating innovative selling techniques to maximize revenue generation. Regular evaluation of strategies ensures adaptability to market dynamics.

  • Customer Relationship Management: Act as the primary contact for wood customers, understanding their needs and ensuring satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.

  • Market Intelligence Gathering: Stay informed about market trends and dynamics within the wood value chain, leveraging market intelligence to make informed decisions and identify opportunities for growth.

  • Ensure SFI Compliance: Adhere to Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) standards and guidelines in all harvesting operations, ensuring environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance.

  • Financial Management: Take ownership of budgeting and forecasting timber revenues for the Resource Unit, managing wood flows, harvesting logistics, and delivered wood contracts efficiently to optimize financial performance.

  • Maximize Wood Product Value: Collaborate with Timber Marketing Foresters to maximize the value of all wood products, exploring innovative ways to enhance product quality and market positioning.

  • Seek Market Expansion: Proactively explore and develop new market opportunities to diversify revenue streams and expand the reach of the timber marketing operations.

  • Contribute to Team Success: Actively contribute to team performance by sharing insights, offering support, and collaborating on initiatives to achieve collective goals.

  • Prioritize Safety: Maintain a safe work environment for company personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders by adhering to safety protocols, conducting regular safety assessments, and promoting a culture of safety awareness.

Required Qualifications

  • BS. in Forestry or related field

  • 5 years of experience in stumpage sales or delivered forest products

  • Understand technical forestry skills

  • Thorough understanding of regional market dynamics

  • Working knowledge of technical and business systems (LMS, MLM, Etc.)

  • Working knowledge of business and environmental law related to forestry

  • Strong negotiating skills
