Position Summary:
As a growing company, we are always looking for new team members to help us continue in our success. Currently, we are seeking a Shipping Material Handler whose purpose is to support distribution center operations by efficiently sorting, scanning, staging and wrapping merchandise. This employee must ensure the product is loaded and checked in the proper delivery sequences so the customer receive the correct products at the right time.
Sort merchandise by customer number and truck route by wave on pallets before loading
Attach identifying information to pallets to ensure driver's ease of delivery and good customer experience
Read and follow truck loading forecasts summaries
Examine shipment contents and compare with records to verify accuracy
Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders to route materials
Meet quality and production standards by ensuring customer receives the right product, in the right quantity and in the best condition
Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported
Communicate truck route changes with other departments as necessary
Adhere to DC housekeeping guidelines
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by Supervisor
Ability to meet all physical assessment requirements, including walking and standing for prolonged periods, pushing, pulling and lifting moderate to heavy items, working in extreme temperature conditions, etc.
Commitment to high standards of safety
Excellent attendance record
Good comprehension, math, and computer skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work overtime as needed
Industrial equipment certification preferred
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Previous warehouse experience and skills preferred
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
