Drive truck, responsible for pickup and deliveries of merchandise and donations. Participate in the loading and unloading of the Thrift Store truck, as well as work in the thrift store, working with customers, lifting and carrying donated/purchased items and operate the baler.
Operate an electronic cash register and accurately make monetary transactions. This is a regular full time position with a workweek expectation of 40 hours per week.

Support the Mission of The Salvation Army by treating every donor, contact and colleague with respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind. Drive store truck/van to pick up merchandise/donations.
Assist the Manager with assigned routes to each address and evaluate donations for appropriateness and accept or reject as needed applying store policies and guidelines. Load and unload donations in a safe, secure manner to minimize damage and breakage. Issue donor receipts for donated items.
Deliver donations to store and/or office, unload truck/van taking donations to designated areas. Do other pickups and deliveries as instructed. Conduct daily pre-trip inspections of the vehicle, monitor and notify office of needed repairs and routine maintenance.
Operate vehicle in safe manner. Assist with the Thrift Store operations efficiently and effectively, while maintaining the established SA policies and procedures. Provide independent, courteous problem-solving services to thrift store customers in a timely, accurate and effective manner.
Forwards concerns/suggestions/complaints to the appropriate individual. Answer the phone in a business type manner. Operate cash register, accurately recording each sale and preparing daily sales reports.
Assist donors with unloading of donations from the donor's vehicle and provides receipts for donations as necessary. Sort incoming donations and prices only saleable donated items on the sales floor for display. Assist in keeping the sales floor clean and neat by picking up any debris and or safety hazards.
Direct and guide volunteers as they complete tasks throughout the thrift store. Bail all cardboard and stack it for disposal. Attend meetings. And all other duties as assigned.
High school diploma/GED or equivalent education and experience. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Customer service and/or cashiering experience preferred. Minimum of one year commercial driving experience, class "D" license and pass the DOT medical exam. Amiable, helpful, courteous, trustworthy, and respectful demeanor, with ability to work well with fellow employees and volunteers, take supervision from thrift store manager, and demonstrate concern for thrift store customers.
Must be able to lift heavy objects. Must be able to pass The Salvation Army's background check, clerical screenings and MVR drivers' qualification. Must be willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army. It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
