As a member of the WestRock's Warehousing and Distribution Team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of WestRock's distribution network composed of third-party logistics companies (3PL's) including warehouses, container plant cross dock programs, and other enterprise logistics solutions. This will require that you combine communication skills, problem solving, and knowledge of distribution functions as you lead initiatives, maintain inventory accuracy, and troubleshoot operational issues. You will interact with various WestRock team members including (but not limited to) business units, customer service, supply chain, accounting, mill logistics, and quality. You will also partner with people outside of WestRock such as suppliers, key customers, transportation carriers, and 3PL providers to create and maintain effective and efficient warehousing programs within budget. You will be integral in providing world class warehousing and logistics solutions for WestRock and its customers.

Career Opportunity

  • Inventory Accuracy and Availability: Update appropriate systems timely to properly reflect current inventory positions and trigger electronic messaging to customers from WestRock systems. Assist accounting team with inventory reconciliations, book-to-book, and physical audits. Monitor and reconcile all late in-transit, execute inventory returns, track and resolve mis-shipments, investigate root causes of inventory errors, and ensure damaged product is repaired. Propose and implement process improvements and assist other team members in conducting audits and resolving difficult inventory discrepancies.

  • Distribution Network Performance Management: Troubleshoot facility and inventory issues for fast resolution. Lead facility review meetings. Generate, review, and track key performance data for 3PL's such as on-time shipment performance, customer complaints, mis-shipments, export bookings, throughput volume, and inventory accuracy. Work as a liaison or project lead with 3PL providers and/or other WestRock supply chain functions to improve daily processes and network performance. Seamlessly provide back-up coverage for other Third Party Warehouse Analysts as needed. Lead facility start-ups and closures. Train facilities and assist other Third Party Warehouse Analysts in the functioning of WestRock inventory systems.

  • Financial Management: Assist in cost monitoring, tracking, and research. Help identify cost saving opportunities.

  • Complaint resolution: Assist in the development of strategies and internal measures that will result in the productive utilization of the complaint process. Ensure that no complaints go beyond the designated response time without a response.

  • Facility Management and Integrity: Conduct audits of new and existing warehouses. Lead facility start-ups and closures.

  • Leadership: Exhibit leadership qualities consistently through effective execution. Actively participate in projects. Take ownership of problem solving and escalate as appropriate. Work to influence cross-functionally and with external vendors to do what is right for WestRock.


  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Demonstrated ability of having sound judgment in decision-making

  • The ability to maintain composure under pressure.

  • Financial acumen

  • Demonstrated analytical/problem solving ability.

  • Thorough understanding of key drivers of effective and efficient inventory operations for assigned vendors.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to act independently or as part of a team as an agent for change and continuous improvement.

  • Solid management of all key functions related to maintaining inventory accuracy and resolving day-to-day issues.

  • Strong communication skills to facilitate activity with vendors and WestRock supply chain and business groups.

  • Exhibit a high degree of accuracy

  • Approaches all tasks with a positive attitude.

  • Self-directed with minimal supervision.

  • Strong aptitude in inventory management systems and ERP type software. Ability to use system to troubleshoot and test functions.

  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Word, Excel (graphs, formulas & pivot tables), PowerPoint, and Visio.

  • Working knowledge of EDI and reporting functions.

  • Able to identify key decision makers and build strong working relationships with both WestRock and 3PL vendors.

  • Identify opportunities to control or reduce operating expenses.

  • Ability to lead small groups and direct process improvements.

  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management

  • Knowledge of SOM preferred

  • Knowledge of OTM preferred

  • Knowledge of Kiwiplan preferred

  • 25% or more travel and/or as needed
