We are seeking an experienced thermal and fluids analysis engineer for our Cryogenic Demonstration Mission. In this role you will support the program in all areas related to thermal analysis with an emphasis cryogenic fluid design, and testing for ground operations and all phases of flight/orbit. You must maintain effective communication with LM Space programs, other Engineering functional organizations, and external NASA customers. Other responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical memos and recommendations to data packages to support peer reviews

  • Providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers

  • Collaboration and contributions across the design team

The position has a preferred work location of Littleton, CO. Support from Huntsville, AL or Sunnyvale, CA is also available.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience leading teams through the design, analysis, manufacturing, assembly and test of spacecraft thermal systems

  • Ability to effectively communicate with and present to a diverse set of customers over complex technical issues

  • Familiarity with cryogenic fluid storage, transfer and thermal control systems.

  • Extensive experience with industry standard Computer Aided Design and Thermal Analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop, CREO, NASTRAN, and NX

  • Experience developing preliminary design trade studies

In this role you will be responsible for activities, including requirements allocation, concept evaluations, trade studies, layouts, preliminary solid modeling, development of solid models in conjunction with the performance of all necessary analyses for these designs including materials evaluations, propulsion, and flight mechanics assessments. will also be provided to producibility studies, cost trades, for long term operations and maintenance, and development planning activities. Your duties may include responsibility for the manufacture, procurement and test for the propulsion system components and assemblies. This job may require coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include: * Subsystem Integration * Assist on the conceptual development, requirements definition, and of propulsion components * Perform trade studies to select the appropriate solution * Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components * Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to systems and components * Provide requirements flow-down, verification, and maintain technical baseline at the suppliers * Ability to work on a multi-disciplined team performing structural trades, detailed /analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems. * Dynamic test definitions, requirements development, test monitoring, data reduction, and comparison to analysis efforts. * Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and review. * Offers contingent upon program award.* To promote the sharing of ideas, Lockheed Martin cultivates an inclusive work environment that inspires differences and big-picture thinking.
