The Arizona State Hospital (ASH) is located on a 93 acre campus at 24th Street and Van Buren, in Phoenix, Arizona. ASH provides long-term inpatient psychiatric care to Arizonans with mental illnesses that are under court order for treatment.

ASH protects the rights and privileges of each patient, including the patients' rights to confidentiality and privacy. Treatment at ASH is considered "the highest and most restrictive" level of care in the state. Patients are admitted as a result of an inability to be treated in a community facility or due to their legal status.

Hospital personnel provide state-of-the-art inpatient psychiatric care and are committed to treating patients and personnel with dignity and respect. Interdisciplinary care is delivered in collaboration with the patient, family, legal representatives and community providers with a focus on recovery and community reintegration.

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for a variety of activities and is an active participant in therapeutic treatment teams.

Responsibilities include:

Assisting in planning and carrying out rehabilitative treatment programs

Conducting and supervising patient activities, both individual and groups

Observing and recording patient responses to therapy and alters approaches as appropriate to reach treatment goals and individual needs

Interacting face-to-face with patients in a supportive and helping role

Instructing patients in special exercises

Participating in establishing and maintaining a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment

Preparing materials and equipment for treatment plan activities

Escorting patients to and from care units of the hospital

Position Requirements include:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge of fundamentals of rehabilitation, therapeutic treatment and application, and mental health principles and techniques; therapeutic practices and techniques for group and individual activities used in therapy; modification techniques to adapt to individual situations

Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; interpreting therapeutic activities; analyzing situations accurately and initiating effective action/measures

Ability to operate up to a 12 passenger van (must be able to complete required hospital training); motivate patients as deemed appropriate by Individual Treatment Plans; maintain sensitivity, objectivity, and flexibility under peer pressure associated with mentally/emotionally ill patients; communicate verbally and in writing; interpret therapeutic activities to patients and other individuals as appropriate

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working or serving in mental health

Preference will be given to candidates with prior Public Health experience

A State Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. 41-1758.07. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). Ideally the successful candidate will have strength to deal with physical situations involving patient care.

CDS Examiner Technician 2 Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility 515 N. 51st Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85043 JOB SUMMARY: The Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility (DBME) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Centralized Document Services (CDS) team as an Examiner Technician 2. JOB DUTIES: * Review documents/applications received from current and potential clients to ensure they are complete, date stamp, research FAA's automated system and/or HEAplus, register/key for appropriate program(s), index appropriate screens into FAA's Document Management System and/or HEAplus or prepare for scanning, and place in appropriate system to ensure client contact by eligibility staff. * Prepare eligibility documents, bar-code, scan, index, and upload documents into FAA's Document Management System via a computer terminal or MFP and/or HEAplus. Validate all documents are scanned, re-index documents scanned to incorrect eligibility type. Set alerts, send appropriate notice and/or email, correct address in system, document CADO, scan, and validate returned mail. * Pick-up returned mail from the Post Office, open and date stamp mail, sort, prepare, research FAA's automated system and/or HEAplus, prepare documents for scanning, bar-code or mass bar-code appropriate documents, set alerts and/or send emails if appropriate, scan, upload, and validate documents utilizing FAA's Document Imaging System and/or HEAplus. Ensure all documents are translated to English. * Answer the telephone, screen calls and refer to the appropriate person following administration and office/unit guidelines, may require translation services or bilingual speaking staff. May act as lobby specialist or greeter assisting clients with inquiries and completion of documents; explain programs, forms, and operational processes; research and prepare documents to scan, scan and index documents utilizing Virtual Print Driver (VPD), FAA's automated system, a Multi-Function Printer (MFP) providing a receipt to the customer or into HEAplus. Re-index documents scanned into incorrect eligibility types * May serve as a lead to monitor or assist with monitoring of schedules, work-flow, assists with educating staff on work functions and/or prepare instructional materials, gather and compile data and submit reports accurately and timely. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Knowledge of: * Imaging equipment (scanner, MFP, terminal, etc.), practices, and procedures. Basic knowledge of program rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Knowledge of office procedures and practices; and problem resolution techniques.
