FT/PT: Full-Time (40 hours)

Purpose & General Description of the Position: This position is responsible for providing therapeutic services to children living in a residential treatment facility, including but is not limited to developing treatment plans as required by the State Licensing and DHHS contract and working as part of a larger treatment team to provide trauma-informed care to children who have experienced profound abuse and/or neglect.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field from an accredited university.

  • Valid Michigan driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.

  • Possession of one of the following: Licensed Master's Level Social Worker, Licensed Master's Level Counselor, Limited License Master's Level Psychologist, Licensed Psychologist, Ph.D., Limited License Master's Level Counselor or Limited License Masters Level Social Worker under the supervision of a Licensed Counselor or a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker for the State of Michigan.

  • Meet State "Good Moral Character" guidelines

  • At least 1-year experience working with children in a clinical setting is required. Experience with trauma-based clinical interventions and working with survivors of abuse and neglect is preferred.

  • Ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with the children,

  • Physical ability to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per shift, to occasionally lift, carry, and/or push up to 25 pounds, and to be able to successfully complete and be certified in TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) Training.

Essential Skills & Duties:

  • Develop therapeutic relationships with children and their families.

  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy with an emphasis on trauma-informed interventions.

  • Facilitates ongoing communication and services with representatives from schools, Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS), foster care/adoptive caseworkers, the court system, and other community organizations on behalf of the children.

  • Maintain consistent communication with parents/ guardians regarding the child's treatment plan goals, progress and needs

  • Participates in regular case review meetings with a Multidisciplinary Team.

  • Provide transportation as needed for court dates, family visits, etc.

  • Make referrals to Child Protective Services and adhere to proper Mandated Reporter guidelines. Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, case consultations, and training as needed.

  • Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner that is consistent with policies and procedures and State and licensing requirements.

  • Responsible for providing on-call resources.

  • Provide consultation and case notes with appropriate court personnel and outside sources (i.e., CASA, to evaluate the appropriateness of court intervention).

  • Organize and maintain case notes regarding narratives, assessments, case summaries, case records and other related records.

  • Maintaining all annual training requirements, including maintaining updated CPR Certification.

  • Participating in all required team and staff meetings, including individual supervision and other staff development opportunities.
