Under limited supervision of the Director of Psychological Services Division, the Problem-Solving Court Therapists will provide a range of services for the Lake County Problem-Solving Courts. The Drug Court and Mental Health Court Therapists will be an integral member of the Problem-Solving Court Program. As a contributing member of the Problem-Solving Court team, the Therapists will be responsible for conducting all assessments, therapeutic treatment, consultation, and treatment planning for clients involved in Problem-Solving Courts.

Hours of Work

  • Generally, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Flexibility for one day per week remoted work after an introductory period.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments for clients under consideration for Problem-Solving Court.

  • Conducts individual and group therapy to clients involved in Problem-Solving Court.

  • Provides weekly progress reports on all clients in therapy to the Drug Court and Mental Health Court coordinators.

  • Contributes to the case management/treatment planning at Problem-Solving Court staff meetings.

  • Provides consultation with residential treatment providers to ensure continuity of care.

  • Provides crisis intervention to probation clients when needed.

  • Provides consultations to Probation Officers regarding clinical issues involving probationers.

  • Conducts in-service training for probation staff on psychology-related topics.

  • Seeks out and attends professional conferences and training workshops for personal development.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required

  • We prefer that candidates have a strong interest in working with dual-diagnosis clients and have knowledge/experience in the field of substance abuse treatment and Trauma-Informed Care.

  • Individual should have experience in conducting individual and group psychotherapy with notable experience in treating clients with co-occurring disorders and in Trauma-Informed Care, knowledge of literature in the field of clinical psychology and psychopathology, including the DSM-5-TR.

  • Must have the ability to make accurate DSM-5-TR diagnoses, work independently, and develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and clients along with good personal computer skills (Microsoft environment).

  • Demonstrates competent written and verbal communications.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements (Ed and/or Other Requirements)

  • To be successful in this role you should have a M.S. or M.A. in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.

  • Candidates must be a U.S. citizen and live in Illinois at time of hiring or within six (6) months of employment.

  • Candidates for this position must be certified by the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC). The link to the AOIC application is available electronically athttp://19thcircuitcourt.state.il.us/faq.aspx?qid=194.

  • Candidates must obtain clinical licensure within one year.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sittingat a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds on a as needed basis.

  • Moderate ability to operate office equipment.

Supplemental Information

Any offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background screening, drug and alcohol testing and may include a pre-employment medical exam. Only employees who have completed the probationary period are eligible for a transfer or promotion.
