Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We offer medical detox as well as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members in our North Stonington location.

Our clinic in Groton, CT, offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment, and is conveniently located across the street from The Inn at Trails Corner, a new 180 bed dormitory-style sober community for adult men and women who attend our outpatient day treatment programs. The Inn offers overnight accommodations, full-meal service, indoor/outdoor recreation options, a workout room, and computer center for all clients.

We accept private insurance, state-funded plans and self-pay arrangements. EOE/M/F/Disability/Vet.

The Clinician is responsible for facilitating psycho-educational and psychotherapy groups as scheduled in the Residential treatment program and assisting in developing the curriculum for the Residential program, based on program needs. In addition, the Clinician assists in the provision of case management services to clients in the program, as needed and appropriate. The Clinician exercises judgment, leadership, and teaching ability in the field of alcoholism and drug abuse, behavioral, mental health and trauma while interacting with all members of the health care system serving this client population.

Master's Degree required. Independent license preferred (LMFT, LCSW, LPC, LADC, licensed psychologist,). For non-licensed individuals, either (1) CAC and one year substance abuse counseling experience; or (2) three years substance abuse counseling experience. Experience treating active duty military personnel and SCCD a plus.

The Activities Therapist develops, facilitates and coordinates the activities of the Starlight program in order to provide recreation resources and opportunities for all clients, with a focus on improving health and well-being and providing positive alternatives to substance use. Other tasks include maintaining quality improvement data and collaborating with the leadership team to provide comprehensive services to all clients. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration or Therapeutic Recreation or related field. Additional certification, training, or experience in the area of recreational or leisure therapy services, fitness or health preferred. Previous experience in the delivery of recreation/leisure therapy services in a similar environment or with similar client population strongly desired. Valid driver's license and driving history acceptable to the organization per policy. Passenger endorsement (PSL) preferred. Universal Health Services North Stonington CT
