Central Regional Hospital

We are currently recruiting for multiple Health Care Technician II's that will function as a Therapeutic Support Specialist II (TSS II) at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Forensic Services Unit, specifically primary care unit Forensic Maximum (A0) or Forensic Medium (B0). The Forensic Services Unit (FSU) is a three sectional unit serving the Pretrial/Maximum, Medium and Minimum security needs of the court-ordered patients.   FSU provides services for all counties in the entire State of North Carolina.

The primary purpose of this position is to monitor patients and perform technical procedures (within scope of practice). Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living.

• Obtaining vital signs.

• Maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

• Assisting with hospital/unit-based programming.

• Engaging patients in behavioral activities.

• Following physician ordered patient care.

• All healthcare duties are delegated by and completed under the supervisor of a Licensed Nurse.

The normal work hours for these positions are 7:00am-3:30pm, 3:00pm - 11:30pm, and 11:00pm-7:30am, including alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled.  These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather.

As of June 1, 2023, the new salary range will be $30,179 - $45,268."

Ability to write and speak English proficiently

Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting 50 pounds and other ADA requirements. A complete description of ADA requirements will be discussed during the interview process.

A valid N.C. driver's license

Must be therapeutic & exercise good judgement

Must be able to obtain and maintain the following after hire:  CNAI (Certified Nursing Assistant I), NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention), APT (Advanced Physical Training), CPR, and other facility required training.

ADA Physical Requirements will be discussed during interview but, at a minimum, include: lifting, kneeling, walking up and down stairs, ability to perform CPR, NVCI, APT and lifting of 50 pounds.

Management prefers candidates exhibiting good communication and documentation skills, using good judgement, and modeling appropriate behaviors and experience with population served.

High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus (effective 08/02/2022)

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
