Therapeutic Recreation Program Manager

Job Description Job Description Salary: We are seeking a full-time Therapeutic Recreation Program Manager to develop, implement, and supervise therapeutic recreation programs for Gardenview Skilled Nursing Center and Andover Assisted Care.

Responsible for maintaining high standards in therapeutic recreation programs including: maintaining cost efficiency, training and coaching employees, and facilitating change within the therapeutic recreation program function. 40 hours per week - schedule requires flexibility and must work one weekend per month Responsibilities: Create and maintain high quality, therapeutic recreation programs that enrich the quality of life for each Resident, and meet and exceed Resident expectations. Develop a broad assortment group and one-on-one programs, encompassing the dimensions of wellness, for all cognitive and physical capabilities.

Collaborate with Community Living programming staff to maximize resident programming opportunities. Prepare admission and periodic resident assessments. Develop monthly program calendars in advance; ensure appropriate level of staff support.

Run group and one-on-one programs. Complete all check requests in advance for monthly calendar. Evaluate programs periodically to ensure resident needs are met.

Ensure quality assurance improvement initiatives are completed; attend quarterly nursing center QAPI meetings. Support resident access to greater community via resources such as MA Commission for Deaf & Hard of Hearing, MA Commission for the Blind, Cary Library, voter registration, and local houses of worship. Maintain required certifications.

Incorporate best practices in programming as appropriate. Other duties as assigned. Schedule regular meetings with Activity Team Members Provide input for Annual Staff Evaluations Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field and certification in therapeutic recreation, activities or creative arts therapy. Five to seven years’ experience in a social or therapeutic programming in a long-term care, assisted living, or CCRC facility, knowledge of social gerontology and dementia specific programming, including three years of supervisory experience. Strong interpersonal/communication skills.
