The mission of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) is to provide statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by all Ohioans.

Work Hours: 1st Shift

  • 6:30 a.m.

  • 3:00 p.m. | 2nd Shift 2:30 p.m.

  • 11:00 p.m. | 3rd Shift 10:45 p.m.

  • 6:45 a.m. | Days & Hours vary based on operational need

An Established Term Appointment (ETA) will have a length of appointment not to exceed ten (10) months consecutively. ETAs are scheduled to meet the needs of the hospital with no guarantee of hours, shift or unit assignment. ETAs are eligible for Healthcare. ETAs are eligible for step increases once they have worked 2080 hours. ETAs receive paid leave time.

This position is unclassified pursuant to ORC 124.11 (A) (29), limited term appointment.

Under general supervision, a Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) provides direct care services and assists patients to function independently in self-help and daily living skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coaches patients to function independently in self-help & daily living skills (e.g., personal hygiene, feeding, grooming, etiquette, social skills)

  • Institutes appropriate crisis intervention

  • Completes charting, documentation, records & reports

  • Performs variety of miscellaneous duties (e.g., light housekeeping in patient areas & living quarters; identifies & reports safety concerns; attends & completes required trainings & educational programs; shops for/with patients for clothing &/or personal belongings; provides clerical support).

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary. In Department of Developmental Disabilities, must also possess a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence pursuant to Chapter 5123:2-3-01(F) (1) (c).

For positions that require operation of motor vehicle to transport consumers to recreational, educational &/or occupational activities,a valid driver's license is required. This position requires a valid driver's license.
