Responsibilities

The Vines Hospital is currently recruiting for a Mental Health Tech II.

The Mental Health Tech II will be responsible for

  • Providing direct care to adult patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patients. Responsible for ensuring the patient's safety on the unit.

  • Providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients through the life span depending on which unit worked.

  • Being a preceptor and mentor to new Mental Health Techs.

  • Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

  • Facilitating department trainings and refreshers.

  • Maintaining compliance with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Displays an understanding of the basic concepts of safe, supportive, nurturing, & therapeutic human interactions.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field strongly preferred. Minimum of a high school graduate or equivalent required.

  • Strongly prefer a minimum of three (3) year of experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a Mental Health Tech.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) preferred. Current BLS and First Aid Certification

  • Demonstrates understanding of program and philosophy and is able to interpret and implement patient care.

  • Displays an active interest in learning.

  • Demonstrates creativity and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrates leadership by training new employees.

  • Effectively interacts with patients, peers, and families.

  • Demonstrates ability to follow behavior program.

  • Actively supervises therapeutic & recreational activities.

  • Understands and practices effective motivational techniques.

  • Demonstrates consistent ability to problem-solve and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
