Summer Teaching Opportunities!

The Shader Croft School is partnering with Champlain Valley School District
and Winooski Middle/High School for Summer 2024!
We are looking for interested and engaging educators to staff our program!

Shader Croft is a small summer program that focuses on developing the literacy skills of reading fluency and comprehension, written expression and oral expression, for marginalized and underserved middle school students and ELL students. The program is student centered, community based and experiential. More details about the program can be found at http://www.shadercroftschool.org

Camp goals are to support kids to (re)engage in their education & school community and to provide individualized, targeted academic support. This academic focus will be complimented by hands-on experiential learning activities in the afternoons, during which students apply the skills learned in the morning.

This unique program engages students by inviting them to plan trips into the community based on their interests and uses those experiences to facilitate the instruction of the various literacy skills. The student group size is twelve, with four instructors. It is a model that has shown to be very effective based on documented feedback from students, parents and educators.

We are looking for enthusiastic educators to provide the literacy instruction. Instructional experience or training in any of the following areas is preferred: reading, language arts, special education, ELL, SEL, speech and language, student activities, and student behavior planning.

Other certifications will be considered. As this is a summer program, a willingness to hangout and engage with young adolescents and planned activities is a must.

This is a five-week program that meets four days a week, Monday - Thursday, for a total of 20 teaching days. There are an additional three days of pre-service and a day of post-service to complete reports. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We anticipated a start date of July 8, 2024 and an end date of Aug 8th, 2024.

The programs will take place at two locations:
Williston Central School in Williston, VT
Winooski Middle/High School in Winooski, VT.
