The Governor's Prevention Partnership believes in the power of young people to change the world. This service opportunity provides space to be creative about how we may develop resources and tools to reduce the impact of the opioid epidemic targeting the Connecticut communities of Hartford, Torrington, Waterbury, and New Haven.

This is an opportunity for a motivated, self-starter. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference and receiving higher than entry-level responsibilities. This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position.

Individuals who excel in public speaking, community collaboration, team building, training and group facilitation, critical thinking and analysis, and enjoy working with diverse groups should apply. This service opportunity makes room for the VISTA to bring local prevention and youth mentoring opportunities to scale, have the freedom to create, develop and implement innovative and culturally responsive opioid prevention tools and resources, provides interaction with diverse stakeholders, builds networks and has access to senior leaders across the state, above all, opportunities to dream and create solutions to complex challenges youth and families face. Service for this full-time opportunity is for a year, with the option of additional years of continued service.

The position is eligible for telesevice but must live within commuting distance of the community of service.

Member Duties : Develop relationships to promote mentoring as a tool for substance use prevention. Research and assess the current data and resources available as well as gaps in accessibility to increase The Partnership's ability to reach and support partners.

Initiate, establish, and maintain relationships with key partners, including educators, community members, community and mentoring organizations, prevention organizations and others. Promote organizational trainings and resources. Through collaboration with other VISTAs and local organizations set up a plan to systemically integrate and build partnerships between the regional opioid/substance taskforces, regional mentoring collaboratives, and the Statewide Opioid Partnership groups. Develop and support the training and technical assistance efforts of the organization through planning, implementing, and evaluating communities of practice.
