The Collegiate School at Florida State University Panama City (TCS) seeks effective, innovative, engaging, and enthusiastic instructors for math, science (chemistry, biology, environmental science) and social studies. We invite applications for these full-time positions that will begin August 1, 2024. These instructors will join the faculty of The Collegiate School at FSU Panama City, in its second year of operation, with the mission of providing collegiate and pre-collegiate studies to students in the Bay County area.

About The Collegiate School

The Collegiate School at FSU Panama City is a developmental research laboratory charter school associated with the College of Education at Florida State University. In this capacity, TCS serves as a center for innovative instructional programming, research and program evaluation, and professional development solutions for the educational community. TCS will begin its second year of operation in August 2024, welcoming an additional 100 9th grade students, while promoting its founding class to 10th grade, expanding each year to reach 12th grade by 2026.

The mission of The Collegiate School at Florida State University Panama City is to provide rigorous academic studies and career development for students who aspire to meet the ever- changing and complex workplace demands of the 21st century. Resources and expertise available through Florida State University and the local community will prepare students to thrive in the competitive global market as they identify and pursue career goals through academic and career training.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and conducting classes for The Collegiate School students in the subject area assigned, and for academic advising and related activities to the subject area.

  • Continuously monitors student progress to meet academic needs and determine learning progress, communicating proactively with families.

  • Participates in professional development and research as required and aligned with the mission of The Collegiate School as a developmental research charter lab school. Attendance is required at staff conferences and curriculum development activities as well as involvement in action research, creative endeavors, and service.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in education or the subject area of the position.

  • Florida Teacher Certification in the content area or a Certificate of Eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, content area of the position, or a related field.

  • Experience as an innovative instructor with the ability to develop shared vision as a leader in the content area.

  • Ability to flex with challenges, be a forward thinker, and possess a desire to seek innovative solutions that impact student achievement.
