Sam Moore Furniture/HF Custom, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation, is currently recruiting a Textile Engineering Assistant for our Textile Engineering and CAD team to work in our manufacturing plant in Bedford, VA. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 100th year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Textile Engineering Assistant to join our team. This position will assist in the preparation and measurement of fabric, process direct supply of new fabrics, digitize materials as needed, and prepare new fabric swatches. The role requires an eye for detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to multi-task and work consistently to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and measure custom fabrics.

• Manage the intake and processing of new fabric from direct supplies.

• Digitize materials as needed.

• Prepare new fabric swatches by taking high-quality photos, labeling them correctly. And saving them to the file server.

• Provide general support on tasks and projects to the Textile Engineering team to ensure smooth operations within the department.

• Work cross-functionally with plant manufacturing cutting and sewing teams on a daily basis to ensure proper measurement and layouts of fabrics.

What we are looking for:

• Previous experience in a textile related role is an advantage.

• Strong computer skills and enjoyment of working with complex technology on a daily basis.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of metrics and measurement tools and terminology.

• Ability to write and communicate clearly with audiences at all levels.

• Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) experience.

• Basic photography skills.

Pay: 16.00 - 18.00 per hour depending on experience
