Texas Tech University-Department Of Biological Sciences: Assistant Professor In Developmental Neurobiology

The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Developmental Neurobiology to begin September 1 2025.

The successful applicant must be able to compete for external funding. The successful applicant will be provided a competitive start-up package to develop their research program. Expectations include teaching both developmental biology and neurobiology courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, the successful applicant should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels across one or more areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

Major/Essential Functions:

• Engages in the advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship. Publishes in good quality peer-reviewed journals. Presentation of research at National and International meetings. Submits grant proposals to external competitive funding agencies such as NSF, NIH. Develops and delivers an up-to-date curricula in Developmental Biology and Neuroscience. Provide individual support, feedback, and advice to undergraduate and graduate students. Mentors undergraduate and graduate research students. Serves on Graduate Student committees including as Chair. Coordinates their classes with the department's curriculum goals. Service is a standard component of faculty efforts. Faculty are expected to become involved in Department/School/Area, College, and university committees over time and develop opportunities that allow participation on review panels and editorial boards and to referee journal articles. TTU faculty are responsible for maintaining a safe environment in their research laboratories, offices, field sites, studios, classrooms and performance spaces. Through our Environmental Health and Safety program, the university provides faculty with a range of resources for promoting a culture of safety among their co-workers. Review of these safety expectations is to be a part of each annual faculty review.

Required Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Biology or subspecialty related to Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, or Neuroscience is required. A strong record of peer-reviewed research in any area of Developmental Neurobiology. Commitment to teach both general and specialized courses within developmental biology and neurobiology.

7. ability to effectively develop and teach general courses within their field.

8. ability to effectively develop and teach specialized courses within their field.

9. ability to engage individuals outside of academia in their work.

10. ability to contribute to departmental, university, and professional service initiatives.

11. post-doctoral research experience in the area of Developmental Neurobiology.
