Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a roadway construction inspector or senior inspector (Transportation Engineering Technician II to V) for immediatel employment; the employee will be assigned to a MDTA Project in the vicinity of Canton, MD. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Construction Inspection, specific to bridge and highway construction projects. The employee can look forward to projects including various highway and bridge construction projects in Maryland.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Will conduct concrete tests and soil, sub-grade, and sub-base compaction tests, will inspect grading, resurfacing, and drainage structures for satisfactory work and adherence to plans and Maryland State Highway Administration specifications

  • Will be overseeing contractor crews and filling out inspector daily reports for men, equipment, and work completed each day including computations for pay items and job notes

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma

  • 2+ years of experience in construction inspection

  • Within 6 months MARTCP certifications in concrete, soils & aggregate compaction, pavement markings, and HMA

  • Obtain the MDE Responsible Personnel Certification card,

  • Candidate will also need to take and pass four SHA Core training certifications.

  • Candidate will need to be able to operate a nuclear gauge

  • employee must possess a valid driver's license.

  • ElementaMust have good communication skills; oral and written

  • Must be able to read and interpret plans for construction projects. Must have good communication skills; oral and written

Preferred Qualifications

Provide guidance to contractor personnel on the proper use of Temporary Traffic Control devices/TTC standards.

  • Basic computer skills; MS Office

  • Excellent time management skills; self-motivator, team oriented
