Job Description:

The Division of Student Affairs is seeking a Testing Coordinator. This role serves as part of the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (OSSD) and is an integral part of providing services to students registered with the office. The position reports to the Director of OSSD and will work collaboratively with campus partners to provide students with high quality support and opportunities to excel in their college experience. This is a full-time, in-person, twelve (12) month position.

Duties:

  • Coordinate the accommodated exams for students with disabilities during Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer semesters in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, The Office of Civil Rights and Department of Justice.

  • Proctor, read and scribe exams in an accessible and equitable format for students with documented disabilities, including students with physical, cognitive, neurological and mental health conditions with patience and empathy.

  • Troubleshoot both physical and digital accessibility issues that arise during the administering of exams.

  • Onboard new and incoming students to navigating exam accommodation processes in Accommodate software at intake sessions between and during semesters.

  • Assist students with documented disabilities with making exam appointments to alleviate the 'burden of procedure' as delineated by the Office of Civil Rights.

  • Arrange testing environment, including adjusting physical spaces, according to individualized accommodations needs of the students.

  • Review student requests for examination appointments through Accommodate software to obtain the proper accommodations.

  • Provide a safe, warm, patient, judgment-free and confidential environment to students with disabilities who are often reluctant to use accommodations due to stigma.

  • Work collaboratively with faculty to obtain and administer exams in the required accessible formats for students with documented disabilities.

  • Serve as the test proctor or monitor exam proctoring software in alternate or individualized proctoring situations.

  • Ensure exams are received, administered and delivered to and from faculty with integrity and efficiency.

  • Recruit, hire, and supervise student assistants for exam accommodations.

  • Train student assistants in testing policies and procedures.

  • Place proctors, readers, and scribes for exams based on students' accommodations.

  • Coordinate with other OSSD staff to arrange use of Assistive Technology for tests.

  • Maintain and update files regarding students' exam accommodations history.

  • Maintain exam files.

  • Provide monthly exam data reports to the OSSD Director.

  • Serve on departmental, divisional, and campus-wide committees as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a related field.

  • A minimum of two (2) years full-time, professional experience in a setting interacting with people with disabilities such as physical, cognitive, neurological and mental health conditions.

  • Familiarity with Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, The Office of Civil Rights and Department of Justice.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and be detailed-oriented.

  • Must be able to follow complex procedures, work successfully under pressure, and manage unexpected situations, such as physical or mental health emergencies.

  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit excellent judgment and discretion, while always maintaining strict confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, ethically and empathetically with a diverse population of students, faculty/administrators, and/or community partners.

  • Proficient Microsoft computing skills (Word, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a higher education disability service setting.
