Position Summary and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting procedural tests on production product including incoming material needed to support customer need date

  • Responsible for understanding and use of all test equipment, test fixtures, and procedures

  • Maintaining security for all quality verification equipment and its calibration control

  • Notify errors on procedures, drawings, bills of material, and router to the support teams (Quality, Manufacturing Engineering)

  • Responsible for completing documentation (shop packs) accurately and timely

  • Responsible for entering data into the ERP system accurately and timely

  • Responsible for maintaining high quality standards and workmanship

  • Maintain excellent communication and working relationship with all departments within the company

  • Maintain a safe working environment

  • Communicating special tooling needed to perform operation that may have not been identified

  • Oral/Written Communication Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Records data


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to apply common sense in performing job

  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to use basic high school math skills

  • Two year technician degree or equivalent

  • Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics

  • Experience handling fiber optic related product

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to work with little or no notice of overtime when needed

  • Ability to use test equipment needed to perform tasks (Meggers, Ohm-meters)

  • Ability to use optical test equipment

  • Able to read technical drawings, specifications and procedures

  • Computer Literate Working knowledge of MSOffice programs, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Good shop math skills

Physical Demands:

Uses experience and training to diagnose operational machine problems and makes repairs and or adjustments to maintain safe, efficient operation of production lines. Completes off line preventative maintenance and overhauls of processing equipment. Uses Maintenance Shop tools to fabricate machine guards, transfer chutes, and other minor custom fixtures to improve and maintain the operation of the production lines. Works under immediate supervision, with a high degree of autonomy and independent decision making. Primary job functions do typically require exercising independent judgment. Reports directly to Maintenance Supervisor Job Scope: This position is primarily responsible for: * Troubleshooting, diagnoses and repair of online food processing equipment. Major components being, mixers, grinders, industrial ovens, blast Freezers, Form Film Packaging machines, Carton forming and sealing machines, printers, metal detectors and a variety of conveying equipment. * Performs Process Line equipment and tooling change over's * Simple fabrication and welding for repair and improvement. * Troubleshooting of electrical control systems. Relay logic, PLC Logic, Photo eyes, Prox. Sensors. Etc. * Completes Planned Maintenance tasks for assigned equipment * Repair and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic machine components * Installation and relocation of processing equipment as needed. The job requires the employee to: * Work overtime as needed as well as mandatory overtime as required * Required to know, understand, and comply with all HLF Good Manufacturing Polices (GMP's), Food Safety regulations and practices, and HLF Safety Rules. * Ensure the proper set up of equipment to allow for the efficient, safe packaging of product. * Troubleshoot various pieces of equipment or systems, to ensure that operation * Read and understand Machine Manuals * Read and understand production schedules, * Conduct equipment changeovers as needed, * Perform maintenance on equipment or systems, * Immediately Report any condition which does not meet HLF Standards. * Work in a manner that enables HLF to produce the highest quality, safest, most cost efficient products possible. Additional duties may include: * Performing Building and grounds work as needed ( Painting, pipe fitting, basic Carpentry, HVAC service ) * Maintain work area in a clean organized manner * Cleaning of process equipment ( Areas that are beyond the scope of the Sanitation Department) * Operating Processing equipment to assist the production department * Training other HLF resources on equipment operation and change over's * Assist the Building and Grounds Group with snow and weather emergencies Knowledge: * Requires the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in spoken English: High Liner Foods (USA), Inc. requires for safety, quality control and emergency procedures that all employees be proficient in English.
